DREAM #32

EYEBALLED

I woke up in my bed but not in my bedroom. The room was huge and very dark. There was a small window near the top of a wall and the moon and some stars were visible. I could feel a breeze even though I was inside.

I decided to get out of bed. The floor felt rubbery and spongy. When I poked the floor my foot went into the surface. The surface looked dark blue but it was at night. I began to walk and call out "Hello", but I got no response. My strides seemed to get bigger and bigger as if each step was like leaping. I fell through the floor and landed in the middle of a road in daylight.

The sky looked orange-yellow and cars were just driving past me as if I wasn't there. Everyone was walking towards and past me; no one was going in my direction.

I noticed that most people were walking dogs. The people walking dogs had dog’s heads and their dogs had human heads.

Whilst still in the middle of the road, a giant eyeball rolled up beside me. I decided to push the eyeball away from me. When I turned around in the opposite direction it was rolling back to me. I thought it was going to roll over me but it hit a car and exploded. The explosion was so bright that it made me squint. When the light dulled down I was in a very bright garden. (When I mean bright, think of an over exposed picture.)

The garden was very green. It looked like there was some kind of party going on. There were men and women I'd never seen before hovering around the garden and talking to each other. I couldn't understand why they were hovering but when I looked closer I could see wings. One person flew up to me and shouted "Testify!" before exploding into a million pieces. Out of those pieces, more people grew. In unison, they shouted something but I couldn't hear it. I tried to get them to repeat it, but I couldn't hear anything. I then woke up.

INTERPRETATION

One of the themes of your dream is that you are not seen or heard until you get to the garden. This is strange given the number of symbols of seeing: the giant eyeball, the number of faces coming towards you (dog and human eyes) and the references to bright lights.

But let’s look again.

The eyeball is so huge it’s almost like one of those eyeball-shaped surveillance cameras. At the end of your dream the word ‘testify’ is shouted at you. After the crash you notice the very bright garden and compare it to an over exposed picture. Surveillance, testify, over-exposed. These are key words to understanding your dream.

Have you been exposed to something (like being caught in the bright flash of a surprise camera) that has been a bit of a shock? Are you keeping quiet instead of speaking up (testifying)?

Have your dream interpreted by Jane Teresa Or might you have made such a big splash about something that no-one is taking notice of you anymore (not seeing or hearing you)? Might you have over-exposed an opinion, for example, or do you talk too much at people without allowing them to take part in the communication? The giant eyeball may represent “I”, myself – you, or your ego. Is it a matter of I, I, eye – the big I, the big eyeball?

Or do you feel anxious about feeling exposed in public? Do you feel uncomfortable being ‘on show’? Or do you simply feel that no-one notices you, or no-one sees the real you, as if you are a disembodied seeing eye – you can see them but they can’t see you?

Your dream suggests a need for balance in the area of seeing and being seen, hearing and being heard.

The floor in the first part of your dream was not as solid as it first seemed to be. Later, in the garden, people were hovering or flying above the ground. There is a feeling here that, at the time of your dream, you were feeling out of touch with the earth, ungrounded – again as if you were not really there.

Explosions in dreams often represent feelings of explosion. What feelings have you been keeping so close, trying not to explode and yet – you cannot contain them for much longer? Whatever it is, it seems to be connected with a need to speak up, to testify in some way to what you have seen.

DREAM ALCHEMY PRACTICE

Dialogue

Your dialogue is between the eyeball and yourself. Start with you saying, “Why only one eyeball, not two?” and see what the eyeball automatically answers. Keep it going for 20 minutes.

How to do this

Give yourself no longer than 20 minutes. When you do this exercise do NOT think! Don’t plan ahead. Just let whatever happens happen. Let the two entities speak to each other on paper using whatever words come up. It’s a bit like writing a film script or play – but without the brain being involved.

How does this work?

By not thinking, by keeping the words flowing, you are letting your right brain and unconscious mind do most of the work. They created the original dream so they know what these symbols mean for you. They will reveal. You will be surprised.
