OVERVIEW INTERPRETATION
Hi Solidify,
What a beautiful, uplifting dream. Utopia. What a high, literally!
You’re on the right track when you consider the driver as being the one in control of your destination, and therefore your destiny, but everyone in a dream represents a belief of the dreamer, so what does this really mean?
You have always loved this man yet you are not in relationship with him, so obviously there is either an obstacle here or you have not declared your feelings. Does he represent the impossible and are you achieving it in this dream? If your unconscious mind has no problems picturing yourself in ecstatic union with this man, what other so-called impossibilities are possible? How high can you fly? What potential can you reach? Is the sky the limit or can you fly higher?
What does this man represent to you, apart from impossible or unrequited love? Fantasy? Does this dream suggest, at the end of the day (sunset) that you are being driven by your fantasies? Does it reflect utopian ideals that have no grounding as the car is not in contact with the ground?
Write down three words to describe this man’s approach to life, or the qualities you see in him. Then write down the opposites. You may have, for example, ‘fatherly, high-flier, reliable’ with opposites ‘child-like, unfulfilled potential, unreliable’. Which of these (in your list) also describe you or a certain situation in your life? For example, you might feel that your career path is unreliable and feel that you have been overlooked for promotion because you lack a sense of authority (child-like).
The kiss in your dream shows union with whatever this man represents, reflecting a similar union going on within you. So, you may decide (in the example) that things are changing and you can feel an inner sense of authority emerging which will help you to fly high and reach your destiny. Or you may decide that the inner union is between your drive to reach the stars and your fantasy. It all comes down to how you perceive this man and what that reflects about you.
You will find it helpful to read ‘Who’s driving this car’ in Dream Alchemy, pages 69-75, and ‘I'm flying’ in Dream Alchemy, pages 25-31.
DREAM ALCHEMY PRACTICE
Affirmation:
If, after thinking about this, you decide that the symbolic union is a positive one (rather than a demonstration of being driven by fantasy, for example), an affirmation is appropriate. Remember though, this is not about affirming a real relationship! Only use dream alchemy practices to effect change within yourself. They cannot be used to affect other people and, even if they could, it would be unethical and harmful to set out to interfere with someone else’s destiny. Here’s an affirmation using your dream symbols:
“I am the kiss.”
How to use your affirmation/ and how often:
Say your affirmation out loud and with feeling 30 times a day for the first week. From the second week say your affirmation out loud and with feeling once in the morning and once before you go to sleep for three more weeks.
How does this work?
This works by communicating directly with your unconscious mind using its own language, to transform the belief your dream is revealing.
