Subject: Being over-run in an Infantry Battle

Patrick

22:19 08/05/2003

I was in an Infantry battle. I had three WW2 Garrands or something similar, leaning against three different sides of a sand bag bunker with troops in them. Someone familiar took one and I grabbed the other two and ran over to a building. It was a big wooden building with verandahs all around, lovely deep polished timber.

I remember kneeling in a doorway and waiting for the enemy when my father came up to me and wanted one of the rifles. I gave him the one with the most ammo. For some reason, I knew it had 28 rounds in it. He grabbed it and he took off. I stayed kneeling in the doorway, waiting for the enemy to charge down a grassy hill in front of me. The grass was a lovely light, green colour, swaying in the slow breeze. Light brown sand-bagged bunkers full of soldiers in front of the building were half-way down the hill.

The enemy charged over the hill, all wearing bright blue uniforms. I immediately started shooting. They all came from one direction at first, aiming straight at the bunker on the hill.

There were four soldiers who looked really serious, different from the others like they were after someone in particular. One focused on that bunker, it quickly fell. Another I shot in the face repeatedly as he ran past me on my right as if to totally ignore me and like my rifle was doing nothing. The third I was able to press my gun into his left cheekbone and shoot him against the wall of the building repeatedly but again nothing seemed to happen.

I knew I was down to four rounds so I quickly withdrew to the bunker to the right of the building. As I did so I saw the fourth soldier who looked serious, only this time his face had changed from a human face. It had turned black and was very blocky. He had a grin on his face as he came for me.

I remember being exhausted and falling over onto the grass on my back and seeing the black faced man with his evil grin running to my left then straight at me. I was too exhausted to move.

He ran up jumped over my torso, knelt and cut my left foot. He ran the knife around my leg from sock height then straight down the back, past my heel, cutting straight through my boot, then ripping it and my skin straight off so that my foot was totally exposed.

Hi Patrick, Sounds like a scary dream to me and yet there is no mention of how you felt. Did you feel fear, excitement, a mixture of both perhaps? Did you feel any pain when your foot was cut or imagine that those who were being shot felt pain?

The numbers 3, 4 and 28 are mentioned. Numbers in dreams can refer to the relevant ages in your life, as in 3 ,4 and 28 years of age. Or, 3, 4 or 28 years ago, or perhaps a mixture of both, as in 3 - 4 years ago, when I was 28... Play with the numbers and see what you come up with. Try to relate them to events in your life. As you mention your father in the dream there could be an incident realting to him.

The foot could refer to your soul (soul), and left is associated with the feminine (yin) side. It was left raw and exposed. Is your feminine, soulful side feeling raw and exposed?

In the dream it sounds like a lot of conflict, chaos and violence and yet there was that lovely peaceful image of the grass gently swaying in a slow breeze.

How does all of this relate to your waking life? Are you experiencing some dramas in your life? If so the grass (green is a healing colour) could be giving you a clue. I got the impression that the image of the grass was a pleasant one for you. If it was, then perhaps it is giving you the clue to how to find peace in your life. Hope this helps.

Love, Gloria

Hi Patrick,

In addition to Gloria's excellent observations, you have the Infantry (about your infant years?) and the giving away of one of your guns to your father. (Reinforced by the giving away of something to do with 28, age 28 etc.)

The appearance of the dark fourth soldier following the lovely grass green images associated with the number threes, suggests a focus on challenges that may have conflicted with you when you were four (in dreamspeak - after you were three).

If you can relate to this, the dream may suggest you are confronting this now (unconsciously at least) and 'battling' out to find a healing (wounded heel/ heal as well as the sole/soul Gloria mentioned.)

There is plenty more in your dream!

In addition to to the foregoing, here are a couple of questions for you to ponder.

Are you feeling vulnerable in life right now? Have you been putting up defenses but they don't seem to be working?

As you put up defenses, do you feel as if you are being totally exposed, or exposing your soul (sole)?

It seems that the enemy in the dream, wasn't out to hurt you after all.....the black faced man certainly gave you something to think about it by his rather unexpected action of cutting off your boot to expose your foot.

What feels like the enemy in your waking life right now? Is it, he or she really the enemy, or could it be that it or he/she might be trying revealing something important and helpful to you.

What was the strongest feeling in the dream? Do you think there was ever a moment in your childhood when you felt like that - when you felt those feelings?

May your dream bring you enlightenment and peace, Beth.
