Subject: Real Dad |

My son came running into the house and told me that he had met my ‘real Dad’ and that he was coming to see me.
My son told me that I was to tell him that I couldn't have children.
I was then introduced to my ‘real Dad’ and I shook his hand. He was very tall, and had very tanned skin, so tanned that you couldn't see his face. He was half my age.
I said to him, "I didn't inherit your height". (I am short). Then we all sat around the table talking.
Note:
My father has passed on. I only have one Dad, although my son does have two Dads. His natural father passed away when my son was 2 years old.
Am I supposed to get ‘real’ about something? Or is the dream saying "the long and the short of it" about something (as he is tall, I am short)?

Since posting that dream, I have thought more about it, and maybe I see my son running my life.
Dad being an authority figure, and also half my age ( which is what my son is, approximately).
He is taller than me, in other words bigger - maybe in importance?
I said "I didn't inherit your height (importance).
Is the dream telling me that I have made my son more important than me, and so made myself a martyr to him.
Do you think I am getting better at this interpretation thing.

Hi Yvonne
Dreams often show us where our relationships are out of whack so if this feels right, then I'd say you've nailed it yourself. Congratulations, you are getting good at it.

Hi Yvonne,
Whilst I agree with Belinda - in that you are getting good at it and that Dreams can often show us where our relationships are out of whack, if you can also look at all people in a dream as aspects of Self that helps you to dig a little deeper.
As I see this one with what you have said - Son as part of you whatever he represents positive/negative running current state of mind. Which then stands to reason you may feel he is running your life.
Masculine energy - way of being in the outside world but as Son is your child no matter what his age - needing perhaps to meet the REAL man masculine energy within Self which I always see as Masculine Warrior Energy as you are told in the dream to say you can't have children. Once you connect with that REAL male energy not the child male energy then Son aspect will no longer be running your life/state of mind.
The height bit could be about the distance you feel between you and your adult masculine energy. i.e. perhaps you are being a martyr to the child masculine energy within yourself which is refelected in your relationship with your son because of the distance you feel exists between you and your adult masculine energy.
Hope that helps.

Hi Belinda and Star,
Thank you both for your replies.
I have had what Oprah calls "a light bulb moment". I looked at the dream from the point of the symbolism, rather than the facts that were in it, and something clicked.
It made me feel very special, and thank you for helping me to look at my dreams in different ways.
I now can't wait to get to bed at night.
Yvonne
PS I hope this only goes in once!!! |

Hi Yvonne
I remember the first time I understood one of my dreams on my own. It was the most wonderful feeling. I know exactly how special it feels. Hope to see you in the members forum sometime.
