"The Significance of Two"

Author

Subject: the significance of 2

Tingting*

01:36 22/10/2001

Lately, I have been experiencing increasing synchronicities with the number 2, most of the time it is 22.

It first started when i posted my uni application form - i noticed the time was 22:22 and the following day - i ran into a friend at a lunch function - and her ticket number was number 2 and the table she was sitting at was 22.

The other nite at a bar - my cloak room ticket was 22 - and the day after on Fri at the chinese restaurant - our table number was 22. Does the number appear in my life as a way of trying to draw my attention to something particular at the time or the date 22nd perhaps? 22nd of october is actually today - well the early morning of it...i'll h ave to look out for nov 22nd as well i guess...

is their a universal interpretation of the number 2?

Thanx a million

Hi Tingting - What I have on 2 is as follows:-

Being a couple. Balance of male/female energy. Balance of ying and yang energies of the universe. Needing people. Self surrender. Putting others before yourself.

22 - Self mastery - all things are possible.

Thanx Star - that puts some things in perspective actually!

Hey Star - would you happen to know about the relevance of 4 and 44.

Prior to my synchronicity with the number 22, i had been experiencing a lot of synchronicites with the number 44.

Could that be connected with the 22 encounters?

Thanx a million!

Hi Tingting,

4 is a multiple of 2 and ALL is connected.

My understanding of 4 is that we each walk within "The Circle of Life" - i.e life, death, rebirth - and that during our lives we walk this circle continually.

Sure we have the main point in time where we are born and then when we "die" but along the way we are continually doing this life, death, rebirth cycle anyway.

The Circle of Life has 4 directions, Nth, Sth, East and West, each with a meaning of it's own. One of my main "guides" is Eagle and whenever Eagle appears, depending on the direction he is going shows me where I am going or what I need to "do", shows me much more also but for now I won't get into that one.

There are also 4 main seasons in a year and during each we go through different "processes" -

Summer - out there -

Autumn - we start to retreat - leaves fall, -

Winter day light hours shorten, days are colder and like the plants we die down and generally go inward for a time -

Spring we begin to blossom from the work and growth we have achieved by being still in winter.

Again whilst there are the four main seasons we can and do go through this cycle many times within a year.

For me personally 4's indicate coming full circle - the 4 directions, the four seasons coming together to create wholeness and unity.

One of my favourite books' definitions of 4 is Self-discipline through work and service. Productivity, Organization. Wholeness and Unity.

Hope that helps.

Thanx again Star, altho' I'm not really sure what might be coming full circle in my life at the moment. I'm finishing off my first year of university, maybe that's it....but I've been experiencing 44 synchronicities since August...

I was actually kinda freaked out by the recurrence of 44, because in Chinese superstition - 4 is seen as an unlucky number because it is pronounced similarly to the word death.

So your positive interpretation of the number sets my mind at ease a little bit.

Thanx again!

Hi Tingting,

When I first came to this site, your message on 44 was one of the first I saw, which was strange because I had also been getting ridiculous amounts of 44s, but to me it means something very uncomfortable, which I won't go into. That's one reason why I didn't say anything. Another is that I don't know what my 44s could possibly have to do with you.

I guess I am writing this just to say hi, and ask which uni? I'm at Monash.

cheers,

Hi Blue Green!

I haven't visited this site in a while and was pleasantly surprised with some responses from you in my synchronicities.

Now that you have mentioned your 'bad' meaning of 44 - I am also very curious - is it very very bad?

I am turning 19 in Feb this year and am studying Creative Advertising in the city at RMIT. I still have 1 month of freedom before school starts - I'll have to make the most of it. I have a very strong feeling that this year I am going to have to work really hard to juggle all my committments. I'm excited and a little scared at the same time. I love it! =)

Since posting my worries about my 44 synchrnoicities - I have still been experiencing them but less frequently - altho' today i did see a license plate 'ANT 444'

Hope to hear from you soon.

Ting

WHAT IS
SYNCHRONICITY?

Jane Teresa's Explanation

Jane Teresa Anderson

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

________

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

______

P.S.

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
