This dream was more like a series of still shots:

* A black Onyx table and two matching chairs, shiny, polished and totally bare. The chairs were turned slightly as if two people had recently left them.

* A pool complex. I could see two pools. One was behind a glass partition and I recognised it as the pool I used to swim in. The other was where I was allowed to swim now.

Throughout the dream I was aware of haze or mist that was making things unclear.

There was also someone older with me but I was finding it hard to talk or communicate.

Black was a strong theme colour.

Hi Chris

Do you know that water in dreams is usually symbolic of 'emotions'? The clarity of the water can give you an indication of the emotions such as dark murky water - unclear emotions - lovely clean clear water - an emotional issue cleared up perhaps.

I often dream of swimming pools. What were your feelings around the swimming pools? Sometimes just asking questions can make the dream details come back.

The black onyx table is interesting too - does onyx mean anything to you? Even if it sounds dumb, explain your experience with Onyx even if feels irrelevant...as you start explaining, a 'subject' or an issue might begin to twig and you go....hang on....onyx...hmmmm....this could be something afer all.

I have found it useful to record those dreams that seem to jump from one dream scene to another. Often they are full of meaning, and the scene is just changing so that each issue or message can be delivered in the best way possible that will mean something to you.

Even if you don't get very far with this post, keep that journal going as it's great to be able to look back once you've got a book full and see all the meanings that you've extracted from start to finish. It's like accomplishing a major project, except the benefit of course is that it's a project on yourself.

A pool complex ? what is that? complex emotions? a complex about something?

Why was the pool you used to swim in behind a glass partition? Have you relegated an emotional part of yourself to a museum where you can only look at it from behind glass, ie not connect with it.

Black in Feng Shui is also considered to be water..... water so deep its black. Anyway, what are you personal associations with Black? is it death? mastery? water? night?

Just some thoughts

OK Thanks for the thoughts. My feeling about the pools are yes, they are emotional issues.....and yes complex ones. The pool behind the glass partition i feel represents an emotional respose that I used to have, but even though I feel it is where I should be, I can no longer go there but instead must swim in the new pool which inciddently was outside.......this I think is the result of a few important decisions I have made, which my last series of dreams reflected. Therefore, I guess it is reasnable to say that thius dream is reminding me that the old ways, the remembered ways, are not where I should be training, I have a new Trainig ground where I could train for the olympics (ijust remembered that in my dream I told some one I was trainig for the olympics) It kind of makes sense AS for the onyx table and the woman swimming with a black swimming cap.....I'm still not sure. As you suggest Julia, for me black is a colour of deapth, but onyx ???????? I guess the table was polished and seamless, the two chairs may be sybolic of two paths.....or maybe the need for discussion for this is what I would connect with a table for two........... I think I'm getting closer. Thankyou
