"Reading The Shape of Things to Come"

Author

Subject: reading the shape of things to come

Earlier this week (22 Sept) I was reading Part 3 Mirror, Mirror who am I in 'The Shape of Things to Come'. The synchronicity that I experienced involved Jane's son Euan, who played the pitcher in a baseball game in a television commerical. (page 237) At the moment I am involved in an abstract play about a group of characters playing baseball in space between two blackholes, but there is no pitcher and no ball. In terms of unconscious ideas surfacing, all of this week I have been brooding over the subject of university applications for next year. Currently, I am studying Creative Advertising, but I am considering moving into Drama. My insecurities in pursuing the drama field, is that I am unsure if that is what I want to do with my life and a lack in confidence at times. Although I enjoy both advertising and drama, I have been debating for many weeks which is merely an interest and which has the best career potential? Wondering if anybody might shed some light. Thanks for listening, well, reading...

When I was at High School I had to decide between Art and Maths/Science and was convinced by others to do M/S because it had more career potential. I went on to University and studied languages and history but dropped out to go to Art College instead, because that was what I REALLY wanted to do. Once again, circumstances took me away from Art and I went into Accounting/Computing where I stayed for some time.

When my son was born, I was able to get back to Art and the work I did in Computing helps because I use Corel Draw for my work. I am also a freelance Art Teacher now.

So, what point am I trying to make here?

Just this ...Each time I had to make a decision I thought I was losing out and missing opportunities but at the end of the day I was adding to my knowledge/experience and all the stuff I picked up has been valuable. My heart has always been for Art, not science, and that's where I've ended up, but the knowledge/experience I bring to it has been deepened by the things I've learned along the way. I wouldn't go back and change any of the decisions I made.

Anything you decide need not be "for life". You will have lots of opportunities to make alternative choices and, if those opportunities don't present themselves then make them yourself!

Does that help?

Thanx a lot Lena. for sharing your experince with me. umm... (x2) I understand the point that you have made. Currently I have decieded to apply for a few drama courses and shall be auditioning for them in November. At the moment i am letting the auditions be a diceiding factor. if i do not get in i shall be undertaking some short courses to continue developing my drama skills. if you happen to live in melbourne the play that i will be in called 'Q 4 A DOG" is opening tommorow nite at the Kaleide theartre at RMIT on Swanston street starting at 7:30pm. it would be great if you could drop by. how ever i will most likely be continuing advertising whilst pursuing my interests in drama. that's enough rambling for now...thanx for your help.

Oh... Lena,

I just saw something flash at me as you mentioned your dilemna between M/S and Arts years back:

M/S -- MS

!!

Angela

(By the way, Tighting, I agree with all that Lena has said. Every door you open will keep taking you there. And one day you will be amidst 'there' and, well, you'll just know it.)

Hi Angela,

Yes, I saw that too. Straight after I'd typed it I had to take a deep breath before I could continue.

Interesting that it came up in the synch forum!

WHAT IS
SYNCHRONICITY?

Jane Teresa's Explanation

Jane Teresa Anderson

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

________

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

______

P.S.

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
