Subject: To and from the cake room

I'm climbing upstairs to get somewhere. The staircase is very narrow and I need to go slowly on my hands and knees.

The girl in front of me is more agile but she leaves her bags behind.

I carry the book I've just written.

We arrive in a room full of cakes. Out of all them I choose a small rich pure praline chocolate to eat and there's a guy who chooses the same as me.

After having sex with an old school-friend (also female!), I go back downstairs to sit in a car. There's a harsh woman who everybody dislikes but she is very pleasant to me. I show her things that I've brought from the garden.

Hi Rosa

If stairs represents how we travel with our different states of mind, perhaps the girl who is more agile and left her bags behind is a message to you not to carry your "bag" or "baggage" with you at the moment, whatever that may be at the moment? Did she move quicker or dialogue with you at all?

Have you just written a book in waking life?

The room full of cakes, could this be a higher state of mind and/or you recognising that you need some nurturing at the moment. It must be said you chose a very elegant and rich cake!!!! What do cakes mean to you? for me they represent celebration or nurturing depending upon the dream.

The old school friend what some of her qualities or personality characteristics? Usually sleeping with someone (even if they are the same sex) can be about integration, a part of you taking on or becoming aware of the characteristics of the person you've slept with.

Cars in dreams are usually to do with how we're travelling in life, direction, motivation and where we're going. Did you just sit there or did you drive too? where were you sitting in the car... back seat? drivers? passenger seat?

Who's the harsh woman, do you know her in waking life? or is she an aspect of you that is harsh sometimes to get a job done? Why is she harsh? What do you two have in common? (even just if in the dream?)

What did you bring from the garden? The fruits of your labour? Things you've reaped recently?

The questions are meant more to illicit more depth from the dream and whilst there is surface sybolism its not my dream!!

Julia, you really know how to analyse a dream. Much food for thought - thanks, To answer some of your questions: there was no dialogue with the girl on the stairs but yes she did move quicker and i was crawling. The book i have written in waking reality was the same one i carried in the dream. I love cakes. I have tea everyday with something sweet. like you, cakes represent celebration for me.I was very happy to arrive in the cake room in my dream. Am getting plenty of nourishment in my waking life right now, so i tend to think that the cakes and the one i choose say something about how i feel my life is at the moment. The old school friend was a very witty, rebellious, fun loving person. And i see how i'm integrating those aspects into my life. in the dream i sat in the back seat of the car (a jeep, i think) which was stationary. Somebody sat next to me. I never seen the harsh woman before but when you wrote about her perhaps being an aspect of myself that wants to get a job done, it really rang true. I can be hard on myself wwith regards to work. I brought herbs from my garden which is new in waking reality and this is the first time that i am gardening in my life. So that's more clarification. Thanks again Julia for your wise and knowing comments.

I am just reading a book at the moment and in it it mentions the stairway to spirit/god/ ascension, can be wide and bendy of it can be straight or narrow. It stated that most people choose the wide but bendy way. could this be a message for you, to take a more direct route.

Gunter, interesting point. But i am thinking that the stairway is what it is. Wide and bendy for some, and in my dream scenario, narrow and a sheer drop on one side. To ascertain my attitude (i.e. whether i'm taking direct/non direct route)surely i need to consider HOW i climbed the stairs. In this dream i was crawling, holding on to the white carpet for support and aware of the agile girl in front of me. Incidentally do you agree with Jane that a person 'in front' could represent the side of ourselves that is active in waking reality?
