Subject: Balloon Cloud

Angela

01:36 24/06/2000

I could sense that there was a blue helium balloon directly beside my bed near the headboard. I could actually hear the conk and squeak as it floated into the board of the bed.

Shortly after I drifted into a dream where I was outside with others as a white helium balloon was lifted by a huge gust of wind into the distance. It began getting bigger and bigger and it shimmered and distorted, the way things do underwater. Then it burst in the sky into a huge puffy white cloud.

I was certain that if anyone had had a camera we would have had a fortune-making picture. I was wandering around in awe and suddenly linked this visual image to a piece of writing by my Italian neighbour, Carmello.

Note:

My Italian neighbour does not write. But I do and I have just purchased this neighbour's house.

Hi, Angela

What a terrific dream! It feels inspirational to me. There is a huge transition from the vision of the blue ballon at your headboard to the dream of the incredible white one. Was the blue balloon to the left behind your head? Did the white one take off to the right of your vision? That might not be important, but I was wondering if there was a sign of past and future there.

Could the balloon transition reflect something about your transition to a new house and it's effect on your writing? Are you moving into the house, or is it just a real estate deal? What do you like about the house, and how does it make you feel? Why did you buy it?

Were there any specifics to the link you felt between the image and your neighbors writing? I really feel that the white balloon is saying something wonderful about your future writing.

I know I asked a lot of questions, but what do you think?

Just a little aside: I read this post on Saturday then drove out for a walk along the sea shore. As I was driving through the city I saw a pink helium-filled balloon very high in the sky as if a child had let go of the string by accident. I thought, "Wrong colour for Angela's balloon, but I wonder where the white one is?"

And there it was, the white one, flying directly behind. And not another balloon in the entire sky for the whole hour that I vaguely kept watch.

That evening we went to a party to celebrate a friend's new additions to her house. The additions included a roof-top deck which had a bunch of twenty or so helium-filled balloons looped to its rail.

Down in the new room, a little girl took centre stage playing with a huge balloon ... by the end of the night a crawling baby was doing her best chew its deflating remains.

The balloon theme continued during the drive home, but you've got the general idea.

Hi Diane and Jane.

Thanks Diane for those great thoughts and questions. Both balloons were to the right of me. The house purchase is a rental property. And I am still having trouble figuring out how it connects to the writing, but it will come.

UMmmmm, ummmmmmm, UMMMMM! Nope. Still don't get it. But when Jane starts seeing my dreams all over the place I KNOW the meaning will break soon.

Ah...I did note, as I 'broke' a pattern last night, (this is a daily thing now!) that on my drive home today, the sky was full of huge puffy white clouds. Tons of them!

Maybe the breaking balloon is a symbol for all that is breaking for me. Maybe the blue balloon that was sagging in the air by my headboard was really saying:

"I'm 'bored' with being 'blue'".

Thanks again Diane for those great thoughts. And thanks Jane for sharing your balloons with me!

Angela:

Balloons uplift - even when tied down. All balloons eventually break. If a balloon represents a part of the self, of life, a metaphor for living glimpsed in a dream, then perhaps balloons uplift us to a higher perspective or a higher level. In life we may hang on to balloons, tie them down, decorate with them. They uplift us emotionally but a tied-down balloon eventually pops, sags or slowly deflates. We may let a balloon go, to fly high in the name of a wish, a charity ... And at a great height the balloon bursts under pressure, releasing all the wishes into the ether ....

If you were a balloon, which adventure would you choose? (Be given to a child, be decorative, tied down, released, break free ...?) Why?

When things 'break' for us, transformations occur. Aspects of the old physical world disappear (like a popped balloon), giving way to new thoughts (released air?) which move on to take new shape in our lives. We celebrate the change (balloons for celebration?). We move higher ...

Some added thoughts for you to contemplate Angela...

PS. Does the 'tied-down vs released' analogy have any connection to your decision to buy the rental property and to your writing?

Hands down... I'd go for the 'break free' because I want no one in control of me. I want to have the great perspective that flying above can give. I know that I am limited with helium and I want to experience its heights before it is tired.

But then, this release to the clouds. The ever-changing clouds. Tumbling. Billowing. Bursting into the atmosphere on display. This is a wonderous thought -- the I Ching (the book of changes). I am in a gigantic transformational time. Changing and shifting from the limited helium to the unlimited sky.

Perhaps the 'tied-down vs released' analogy would relate to the writing because I began a new novel during this transition time. It is therapy of sorts. Most definitely. So a releasing?

And I made the final decision to buy the rental property based on intuition (which I doubted along the way). As soon as enough clues came in I went for it. I've not felt a shade of doubt since. I feel more a sense of freedom and security.

Arrgh...still don't see the connection. Am I blind?!

Thank you Jane.

Angela.

I think we have learned by now that when the "writing" is mentioned in a dream in any way that the dream indeed is attached deeply to that theme, whether it be in the material itself or the act of.. I would link the balloon at the "head" of your bed to the dreamworld - something in there that connects with the balloon theme/turned cloud.... have a look - is there anything "overwritten" ballooned up, cloudy and nor clear to your reader? Is there any mention of Italians in the material.. you specifically said your "Italian " neighbor, i wonder why? Jane saw your balloons, this is important, a major synch and as we know...signs of important breakthroughs/outs. You know the number craziness, i always connect my three numbers to colors - white is 10, blue is six, yellow/gold is 4.. I thought of this immediately when I read this entry, call me crazy.. with love, sd
