Subject: Running Away and The Blue Man

I was a cartoonist. I made cartoons similar to Bugs Bunny except that they were my own creations.

I went with a group to speak to an old lady who also made cartoons. She lived seemingly by herself in an old house. One of the men in my little group was telling the old lady about one of my cartoon characters that he found to be particularly hilarious.

For some reason we weren't supposed to be there talking to the old lady. Some people, possibly the government, decided to chase us. We ran down a long hall that led to the basement. At the end of the hall there was a huge pile of clothes. The group I was with arrived at the pile of clothes before me and climbed up, but they were afraid to climb down into the basement. I climbed up the pile of clothes and climbed down the other side, but stopped just before the small drop-off that led into the basement.

There was a dark room off to the side that kind of looked like a cage, but the door was open. I thought there might be a monster in there, so I made some growling noises to draw him out. But no monster came. So I jumped down into the basement and the other people in the group followed me.

We ran down the length of the basement. On the side wall there were some glass sliding doors that led to the outside. Outside it was a bright, sunny, nice day. In the basement, it was dim and gray.

Somebody came through one of the glass sliding doors. He wore a whitish, light bluish colored robe with designs on it. The material was thick like that of a comforter. The man was bald and his head was blue. I wasn't really afraid of him, but I was a little bit apprehensive because I thought that he might be a vampire. He may have thought the same thing about me because he suddenly grabbed me and tried to stab me through the heart with a blue knitting needle. I in turn tried to grab the knitting needle from him and stab him through the heart.

He had almost succeeded in stabbing me, but I got away as the people that were chasing me and my little group slid down the pile of clothes.

We decided to go through one of the glass sliding doors. We ended up in a yard with green grass. It was still a bright, sunny, nice day. The yard was surrounded by a large wooden fence.

It was known that one of the girls in the group had suction cups for feet so she would not have any trouble climbing the fence. As for the rest of us, there was a small hill on one part of the fence that made it a little easier for us to climb. On the other side, the land came up to the top of the fence.

After I had climbed up to the top of the fence I turned to help some of the other people in the group. One man had climbed up but instead of putting his legs on the land, he put his legs over the fence of the next door neighbor’s.

There was a blonde man next door watching all this happening. I put the man's legs back on the land where they were supposed to be and then had to coax him to let go of the fence post and I would pull him up.

When everyone was at the top of the fence I noticed that the blonde man next door was also on the top of the fence with us. I asked him, "Would you like to join us? Come join us." He said that he did want to join us. I read on his nametag that his name was David so I decided to introduce him to the rest of the group. I said, "Guys, This is David." Then I turned to him questioningly, "David, right?" He nodded and I turned back to the group and said, "Yeah, David" And we moved on.

We came to an area that was dim and gray looking. We were lugging a bunch of stuff around. We stopped to rest for a minute and put our stuff down. I saw some small gray creatures scurrying around.

Suddenly one of the men in the group stood up, yelled and started chasing the small creatures. He was muscular with white blonde hair. His skin was gray. He had an axe and tried to slice at the small creatures. I think he thought they were trying to steal our stuff. At one point I think he had a horse.

I said, irritated, "We should get going before they catch up with us." But nobody was listening. I was trying to gather up my CDs and things, but it was too much for me to carry. The blonde man beside me didn't have very much to carry.

Suddenly a blue limousine pulled up nearby. Somebody said that it must be a government car and that we should run. Everybody started running. I was running on my knees sliding my stuff in front of me, because I thought I would lose some of it if I stood up.

We came to a place where there were some huge window shades or maybe they were garage doors. Some of the people in the group lifted them up slightly and crawled under them. They didn't pull them up all the way because they didn't want their pursuers to have an easy time at following them.

I was still running on my knees but I had to lift the shade up a little more with my head so that I could fit under it. We ran a little further and came to some more huge window shades or garage doors. We went under them too.

Suddenly a man who seemed to be in the group threw down the stuff he was carrying.

I looked and saw that he had gray skin and brown hair. He was wearing a hat in the style that the Chinese used to wear. He was also wearing furs in the style of a Viking warrior.

He said, "I can't take it anymore! I can't keep up with you!" I realized that he was of the same race as the men that had been in the limousine. He may have been in the limousine with them.

I thought maybe they weren't from the government after all.

Maybe they were friendly and we had run for nothing.

Hi Shalie,

{Scene 1} I just finished reading a book by Tove Jansson who is an old women who lives by herself in an old house in Finland, draws cartoons and writes these wonderful books about "Moomins". (little creatures who have the most amazing non-linear logic and a paradigm shift as far as philosophy of life goes)Seems you visited her in your dream.(Must reading for dream thinkers)

"Can you win anything better than the useless rewards of a fantastical imagination! Is there any greater honour?"

{Scene 2} My friend told me Tove is "a complete hermit" (as opposed to a partial one). But seriously folks, Cartoons may perhaps be considered frivolous but as it is your own creation that must neccessarily not be the case.Do you draw cartoons in yuour waking life? (I almost wrote "real" life but remembered the discussion regarding all planes being as real as the next.)Is there some creative side to you that maybe you feel unsure of how seriously others will value it? I guess I get this from the image of government (authority figure? family? Teachers) chasing you into the basement (Also been reading Iyanla Vanzant book wherein she talks about the basement, first floor, second floor and attic of our own lives, our own selves)

Up and over the clothes? divesting yourself and entering the inner, naked core of your being. Once you enter, go into the basement, the first thing you are aware of is the presence of the(your) monster or inner demon as I like to call mine(ha) You growl at it to scare it out into the open but it is not even there! (reminds me of one of my favourite quotations,do not have it here now, something about"the monster at the centre of the labyrinth is also an angel" or some such thing.

{Scene 3} "Outside it was a bright, sunny nice day. In the basement it was dim and grey" What a great line Shalie. Think I will add it to my quote book. I think this is the clue, the theme of the whole dream. The monster is not there, the soul sucking vampire is slayed (Slain?) with a needle through the heart (why a knitting needle I wonder? Angela will know I bet!) Man, if I am off base I sure am spending a lot of gigabytes.

Shall return for future scenes later Shalie, if I am anywhere near the correct tract.

Cheers, Liam

Hi Shalie21, Liam...

Man, Liam, way to put the pressure on!! Oddly, or not, the knitting needle already had my attention.

I've had a think about this for a couple days now. There is way too much to pay attention to every detail in one shot, but if you work with us Shalie we can get to the bottom of it.

Okay. So, you are heading down to the basement. To me this is 'meant' as the 'base' of yourself. There is a great deal of fear to go down there and over the piles of clothes or over all the things you've 'closed' off in order to block yourself from getting to the dim grey stuff. I'm keen on the clothes representing closed particularly because you did write 'closed' one time instead of 'clothes'. (We betray ourselves this way all the time!)

I'm with Liam on the monster stuff, your fear of yourself, even just your straight out fears.

There is this sense that you are being chased by the government throughout. What is governing you? Why do you fear this inner structure?

Then you run into the Blue Man with the blue comforter and the blue knitting needle. You were afraid that he was a vampire, that he might suck the life out of you. But he didn't really scare you. Now, how about that he represents 'comfort' being that he's dressed in a comforter and all? Do you have a wee bit of a committment phobia? Not just in relationships but say in making a committment to a direction or in finding a place of comfort? Are you feeling somewhat indecisive about something that might take you from your comfort zone?

Knitting 'need'le -- NEEDS! Heartfelt needs... I don't feel that the knitting is so significant because needs comes up again in a second cryptic format --You go about crawling around on your knees/needs! Those needs are getting abused Shalie!

I will guess that there is a particular need to not fear your own governing nature or your instinct, going on here. I wonder that this is a call to be paying attention to your needs.

Phew! Exhausting! So, what do you think? Can you give us some feedback here and perhaps we can take this deeper.

Blessings.

Angela.

Hi Let me start with Liam's message :-) Well I've never heard of Tove Jansson, but she does seem to go along with my dream figure. The old woman was alone. Perhaps a feeling of loneliness here. I don't make comics in waking life, but I want to learn how to draw what I see in my dreams. I think that would be interesting. My real talent though is writing, especially poetry. The monster that I try to scare out probably is a certain needless fear. I find out the fear is not warrented in the dream and so continue on into my inner reckoning. Of course the blue man is not slain, he almost slays me with the knitting needle. Something with the knitting needle though, when I dream about vampires, instead of sticking them through the heart with a wooden steak to kill them, in my dreams I try to stick them through the heart with sharp metal objects. I haven't quite figured that one out yet.

Now for Angela's post :-)

I can see the clothes meaning something about closed, because the clothes are blocking or closing off my passage to the basement, but I climb over them anyway. That's an interesting thing that you say about comittment. I think I do lack a certain comittment to things. I tend to be very comitted at first but then I tend to slack off and let things go and then I have to run and catch up. Of course this gets to be stressful especially if I can't seem to catch up.
