Subject: Un-jealousy?

I dreamed that my wife was sexually engaged with two of my frat brothers simultaneously in my presence as I stood and watched. She was very giddy and enjoying herself. Yet, I wasn't at the least bit apprehensive. Actually, I was a bit permissive towards her.

Even after waking I still neither had feelings of rage nor jealousy.

Background: I am a member of a fraternity married to a bisexual woman. We dated more than six years before marrying. We’ve had past discussion concerning her having sex with another man other than myself and she expressed a definite non-desire for such. Normally, just the thought of her having sex with another man could get my blood boiling, no matter how close they are to me.

Hi Devone,

The important thing to realise is that dreams are not literal, even though they are compellingly so at the time of the dream. We need to look at the symbolism.

The other big thing to keep in mind is that it is most helpful to look at all the characters in a dream (whether or not you know them in your waking life) as representing aspects of yourself.

Sex in a dream often symbolises unity or integration on some level. As we move through life we change ... we integrate new characteristics, new perceptions of life, new attitudes. Sometimes these are for the better, sometimes they may not serve us so well. Either way they can come up in dreams as 'good'/'bad' sex.

Your wife in your dream may symbolise your 'female side' (creativity, nurturing, emotions, lateral thinking, spirituality, inner world). Or she may represent characteristics of her personality which were issues for you at the time.

The frat brothers presumably symbolised your religion, or community or .... what else?

The sex was enjoyable - you were permissive and not apprehensive. So could the dream have been reflecting your 'female side' integrating in some new way with whatever your frat community represented?

Could you have been feeling more 'on a high' (giddy) and less apprehensive about some aspects of your chosen community life/ religion?

Just some thoughts.
