Subject: Bad Computer Game Dream |

I was trapped in this house and the only way out was to kill the occupant.
It was like I was in a computer or video game because nothing seemed real except me.
The occupant didn't really mean anything to me, just like when you're playing a computer game although I was in it. But I was scared of not being able to get out of the house.
It was dark and the prominent colour appears to have been Khaki green.
The occupant kept eluding me but I was following him with a knife or a razor. Right at the end of the dream I catch up with him and I slit his throat but it didn't bleed. I thought he wasn't dead because there was no blood and I think he was still moving.
Note:
I found this dream very disturbing, as I don't normally remember my dreams.

Hi, Bill
If you are beginning to attend to your dreams, what might help is to think of the characters in your dreams as aspects or literally as yourself. Possibly even the house is an aspect of you.
You refer to the man in the dream as the "occupant," and also describe the urge to kill him in dispassionate terms. In fact, everything but you is "unreal." I wonder if some emotional state is trying to get your attention. The need to get out of the house, though, has a feel of panic to it. I wonder if there is something in your waking life over which you feel no control, something that is bothering you?
Killing of someone in a dream often does not mean violence. It may be about making some change, either within yourself or in your outside circumstances. If so, your dream is insisting that the change be made soon. You do succeed in killing the occupant, so whatever this change might be is within your power to accomplish.
The title you give this dream also points out some change in the making. Some "game" does not "compute." Sounds simplistic, I know, but our unconscious often works this way.
You may find that once you have given attention to your dreams, they will continue. If so, I hope that you will continue to post here. I have found this work to be very rewarding.

hi bill,
my impression is that there's an aspect of yourself, how you feel towards some part of yourself, that you are trying to be rid of - perhaps because you feel it undermines your true character/self. The dream has woken you up to it, shaken you up enough to ensure you take notice. The khaki colour, the chase and the fear reminded me of warfare. You stalk him, finally right at the end hunt him down and cut his throat. I wonder if this character represents your voice/your speech/words/what you say? You aim to kill him but he doesn't bleed. No blood is lost or shed. Can't be killed physically? What's the other options I wonder....
see how you go,

bill, i meant to also say that the reference to "computer" made me wonder if this issue is centred on resolving your current logical or mental frameworks. You address the issue in a physical and emotional manner but what's bothering may be a thought pattern. OR maybe you are operating too much in the head and this dream is trying to wake you up to how you are really feeling which seems confused and a bit scared. Bad mind games comes to mind for me...

Hi Rick & Janelle, Thanks for your responses. This dream did get my attention as I couldn't get back to sleep afterwards. Points about some emotion trying to get my attention could be right. I have been thinking of changing my location of my business lately and it is not an easy decision. Very glad of your help. Thanks Bill |
