Subject: Murder in the kitchen

My husband and I are standing in the kitchen of our current home and it is dark. We are wondering how a murderer actually got into our house to murder someone in the kitchen. There is no body and we don't even know who it is.

We think the only way he could have got in is through the roof, but there is no sign until my husband actually finds something and directs my attention to it. I can see faintly an outline of opening that was cut and very well concealed or patched up.

We call the police and afterwards they don't really show a lot of interest in following it up. We feel it's important and serious but we just watch them walking away turning back to us smiling and saying there is nothing to worry about. I remember feeling bewildered.

Note:

I had this dream last night after my husband and I had a bit of a disagreement and we both went to bed mildly annoyed with each other.

Hi Chloe,

There is a lot in your dream and I'm sure others will choose bits to look at and ask you questions. Here's something to start with:

Dreams often use visual puns or cliches. You mentioned that this dream followed a disagreement with your husband, so it's interesting that in part of your dream you saw an opening that was "patched up" just as we talk about "patching up" arguments.

My feeling is that something was indeed "opened up" (within you - this is your dream) during the disagreement. You may have felt "cut" (hurt) just as the opening was "cut". You noted the opening was "very well concealed" in the dream. Do you have a tendency, in a disagreement, to patch up by concealing your full hurt or distress?

In your dream you feel this opening is "important and serious" but you are told there is "nothing to worry about". Do these words and feelings feel familiar to you?

There is plenty more .. but this should give you a good start ...

Your next dream (the one above this one) is significant and links with the first dream you posted earlier to this forum.

Over to everyone else ...

Hi Jane, thanks for your comments. I think you are right especially about "patching things up". I even thought the same thing myself as I was trying to analyse this dream. In particular I am grateful for your insight concerning being cut or hurt. Yes my husband did say something unknowingly that did "cut". Yes, I never thought to say anything about it and by morning it was as though our disagreement had never happened. Thanks for you help on this one. If I experience that cut/ hurt again I'll be sure to acknowledge it. Chloe
