"Cod Almighty & The Lighthouse"

Author

Subject: Cod Almighty & The Lighthouse

Here's a beautiful simple synchronicity that occured for me in the last 24 hours:

SETTING THE SCENE:

Yesterday a certain restaurant in Brisbane jumped into my mind (The Thai Orchid). Some special friends took me there about six weeks ago, and apart from lingering thoughts a few days afterwards, I hadn't thought about it since.

Still setting the scene, yesterday I bought two 'thank you' cards to send to two different families who showed great kindness towards me concerning a decision I needed to make about a month ago. My dreams had shown me what needed to be achieved and these two families helped show me how this could be done. The outcome was successful and finalised yesterday.

TODAY'S SYNCHRONICITY

Half an hour ago I sat down to write the two thank you cards. I looked at the pictures and worked out which one to send to which family. One was of a lighthouse beaming out its light from an island. The other was a quirky picture of three men riding a huge fish through blue wavy 'stuff' which may have been ocean or may have been sky. It was titled 'Cod Almighty'.

It was an easy decision. Will lives on the ocean edge and his help had been like a beam of light, so I chose The Lighthouse for him.

I had told Michael about a beautiful dream I had two weeks ago which featured a HUGE fish and which woke me up laughing, so the humour of Cod Almighty was perfect for his family.

I found the right words to write inside Cod Almighty and sat back pleased with having thanked both and for having added a touch of humour myself. I put the Cod Almighty card in an envelope, sealed it, addressed it and turned it over to write my sender address on the back ... AND THE PHONE RANG ..

It was Micheal. I giggled. "Have a guess where I am," he said. I thought about my card and said, "Looking at the ocean and eating fish." Not quite: he was standing looking at the ocean watching about 150 dolphins tumbling in the water!!! Now this was unusual: he was some three hours away from his home and place of work, and when we compared notes each of us has only ever seen a handful of dolphins together at one time.

Okay - so, I know dolphins are mammals .. but ..

And then he said, "We're passing by your place in the early evening and we're going to The Thai Orchid restaurant (yes, the one I had thought of the day before), so how about we meet you there? Yes!

To finish the story, Michael was standing on the most easterly tip of Australia, which is at Byron Bay .. AT THE FAMOUS LIGHTHOUSE phoning me from his mobile.

Hmmmmm.... there are many meaningful conclusions drawn from this but I'll just leave you with the story (unless anyone specifically asks).

Much light to you all and may all your fish be big ones.

;)

Oh this is so smile-worthy Jane!

A delight to read during the dry period...

Thank you Angela ...

HEY...

So Will just phoned me, having received the Lighthouse card, and he said, "Do you remember my Lighthouse Poem about Byron Bay?"

With Will's permission, here's the relevant passage:

(I may have tuned into the memory of associating the Lighthouse with Will [though he has written many beautiful poems which I have heard and read] but what resonance that Michael was at Byron Bay under the Lighthouse.)

***

From "Hunting the Whale" by Will ...

***

So remember when you sit and dream

On Byron's splendid shore,

That the light that shines on that rocky cape,

To keep the mariners safe and well,

Is the light that once shone upon the gates,

Of the Humpbacks' private hell.

***

Note:

The humpback whale was once hunted from Byron Bay to a Whaling Station at Tangalooma on Moreton Island. Tangalooma is now a place where you can go and feed (under the watchful eye of wildlife guides) the dolphins who come into shore each evening. You wade out in the water with a bucket of dead fish and hand feed the free dolphins. I have done this. And here, of course, is a connection back to the FREE dolphins Michael watched at Byron Bay.

I realised Will and Michael haven't met each other, though I've known Will for some 8 years and Michael for 6. So, next on the agenda is an oceanic picnic for all concerned.

Myabe the three people riding the Cod Almighty were Will, Michael and I ;)

I wouldn't doubt it for a second!

WHAT IS
SYNCHRONICITY?

Jane Teresa's Explanation

Jane Teresa Anderson

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

________

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

______

P.S.

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
