Hi Scarlett,
You'd love being in the Members' Forum where every part of your dream is dissected .. and more!
In your dream, your sister speaks up for herself and you admire this. In contrast, when your mother, in your dream, asks you to do something you obviously do not want to do (it results in a bad mood), you still do it. You don't speak up for yourself as your sister did.
So, one dynamic your dream highlights is the "speak up versus do-what-you're-told" issue.
As you say, your sister's attitude in the dream is different to her attitude in waking life. In the same way, our dreams can encourage us to take a different attitude in waking life. What we (or another character) can do in our dreams successfully can be translated into waking life success.
There's far more in your dream, Scarlett, but this is a starting point.
I wonder if the 'New' in 'New York' is suggestive of new ways?
