Subject: A Murder

I was on a roof with a large group of people and an aerobics instructor, getting ready for a class.

It was extremely dark and the only light came from a flood-lamp on a building across the street and the stars overhead.

We were all talking about a murder that had just taken place. No one knew if there were any witnesses, but I knew who the killer was. He was in the group with us, and I was afraid that he was going to kill me if I told anyone.

We started the class and exercised with jump-ropes. The ropes I kept getting were either too short or too long and I couldn't jump properly.

I finally just threw the rope away and jumped like I had a pretend rope. Then the class took a break and I went over to the instructor and told him that I knew who the killer was. I told him that it was the man with the callused hand. His hand was one giant callus and he couldn't feel anything with that hand, so he used it to murder the people.

I told the instructor that I had seen him take a knife in his callused hand and gut six people.

The murderer turned to me and said, "I'm doing this because of my sin."

The instructor had the murderer arrested, but gave the credit of finding him to another person because I didn't want the murderer to find me. This other guy told everyone that he found the killer "by the ducks," and knew it was him. We were the only three people who really knew what happened.

Audrey,

You say that he does the murders because his hand doesn't feel. Is there something you're not feeling, Audrey? Is there someone needing your protection? Or did you turn in the murder to protect potential victims?

Lot of physical action here: aerobics, other. Some help here, please.

Interesting choice, that the killer guts his victims. Back to feeling - what's in your gut? What needs out of your gut? I have had dreams that my guts are being spilled, and always feel them to be healing and cleansing. I just love to get my guts out.

That "by the ducks" business is great! What do you associate with ducks? Are you a "duck person?"

Hi Audrey,

I just took a quick peek back a few dreams. I thought it was you who played the guitars and dreamt about knives/blades in earlier dreams...

You are definitely going to want to look at this knife symbolism. Feel free to do it here, it's easier for others to lend their understanding when you can draw some examples from your life for us. Jane talks of a poem method where you would, in this case, title it knife or blade and just write down everything that comes to your head. It doesn't need rhyme or reason. No editing. And no thinking. Stop at five minutes. In those five minutes of writing you will, more than likely, uncover something that will give way to some understanding for you.

Because of the guitars, I'm inclined to think you are pretty familiar with callouses. What if you are to take this a bit further?... Callouses are a good thing for a guitar player, they enable you to make music without pain. So, where a callous might mean something rough and unfeeling for others, it may actually be an enabler for you.

In this case, perhaps it is the callous hand that is able to reach to your gut (with the knife -- that we don't have the meaning for yet) and change/kill off the old way of thinking and feeling. I agree with Rick about being 'gutted'.

Killing can often be a good thing in dreams. On a few of occasions I've seen your dreams with someone trying to 'get at' or slice off layers. I'm wondering if you are feeling you are not living up to your potential in some particular area?

There's absolutely more with the skipping ropes (hey, maybe 'skip' the rope...you don't need it?) The roof, etc. But let's start here. What do you think that knife means Audrey? All the best.

I tried the poem method, and came up with a few things. I found myself repeatedly writing, in various forms, "cutting away layers." I'm beginning to think that the knives and blades are "cutting" away the old "me;" I use to be very shy and self-concious, and I'm far from that person now.

I don't really know what the action could symbolize...I'm extremely lazy!

I'm not a duck person. I really don't like ducks. I think that it was used in the dream to say, "By the docks," instead of ducks. I don't know why ducks.

Callouses..."emotional" callouses would certainly be useful for me, because I'm majoring in nursing, and all the nurses I know tell me that you have to have a thick skin. Does that help any?

hi audrey,

bits which grabbed more of my attention were things like you pretending to jump, 6 people being gutted, the rooftop aspect lit by natural and non-natural lighting, and the duck thing.

your motivations, the motivations behind your actions of late intrigue me. there's some link between what you know, how you deal with or act on what you know, and how it ends up/the consequences of what you do. i get a feeling that fear prevents you from being honest about stuff sometimes, so you pretend that you are coping, or you pretend that things are a certain way. finally you leak info but duck from the repercussions. perhaps it is a fear of responsibility??? one hand does all the work whilst the other does nothing. an imbalance perhaps that may be reinforced by remembering which hand was calloused and which didn't work. which was left and which the right?

The killer was found out by the ducks you say. If it is hard for you to be straight about stuff, are you being "seen through" because of all the ducking you are doing? Slipping up is what gives crims away most of the time - all the ducking and diving so to speak.

What does "six" mean to you age wise, time wise (years ago, months ago, weeks ago, the month of June etc)? Only three people know you say. The phrase "me, myself, I" pops into mind...

really interesting dream! i wonder what the first part held???

Hello Audrey, Janelle and Everyone else taking part in this wonderful dream!

Just wanted to comment on how beautifully this dream is unfolding from such shared work and insight and to add my endorsement to Janelle's 'ducking' theme.

I saw "jumping and ducking" together: jumping some things, ducking others ... knowing the ropes but not being able to 'handle' (hands?) them ... yet, my reaction was "Why bother with the ropes when you can skip better without them?!"

Aerobics classes sometimes feature in my dreams when I'm 'working out' something ('workout').

You also 'ducked' the responsibility of being known as the person who named the murderer. Whatever you are 'killing off' in your life, for good or for bad, it seems you're not quite ready to fully acknowledge it yet .. that's okay: you're still working it all out. The darkness with just a little light emphasised this too in your dream: the darkness being the unknown or your unconscious, the light being what is coming to light, becoming conscious.

May much light continue to pour in Audrey - I feel something very special is emerging for you here.
