Here's a dream synchronicity story from my life today which made me laugh despite the odds by the last event of the day:
Last night I dreamed I went into the ANZ bank to ask for more insurance cover for my house contents. The bank assistant reminded me that I already had cover. I apologised to her for being vague, but said I knew I needed cover for something extra of value, but couldn't think what it was. I then drove away in a blue sports car.
Well, I woke up from this dream and wondered why I'd gone to the ANZ Bank when it isn't my bank. I thought, "It sounds like AAMI which is the company my house contents are insured with."
A couple of hours later I had a phone call to say that our Dream Network web site is a Finalist in the Australian Interactive Multimedia Industry Association Awards which are to be announced on 2 November.
I didn't know we had been nominated. The Association, I discovered, is known as the AIMIA.
"Hmm, sounds like AAMI", I thought. Being chosen as a Finalist is certainly something of value.
Tonight, driving home from the gym, I was sitting relaxed in a queue at a red traffic light, as was the car behind me, when a third car zoom crashed into the car behind me which crashed into mine. And who is my car insured with? AAMI, of course. And fully, no extra cover needed.
Now, I know there will be more to this story, but I'm wondering about that blue sports car! Much as I love my now-car .... it was a great drive in the dream!
Somehow my brain keeps reverting to amo, amas, amat ...
Still smiling,
Jane Anderson
PS Dream Network is a Finalist in the Arts & Entertainment category, up for "Best Lifestyle Site or Title".

Jane, I spent this morning punching in different combos of the letters (in Amazon.com) a,i,m/n and g/j in the futil attempt to remember the title of a book I saw and want to buy. It has two women's names.. ai something.. any connection to your letters, do you think? |

We'll keep an eye open for that one sd.
NOW:
Today I suddenly realised that the ANZ Bank in my dream could, in the best dream fashion, be "ANTS" (ANZ [Australia New Zealand] sounds a bit like ANTS). And then there are "ANTZ pants" - at least, in Australia, being a make of underpants.
Well - so then refer to my post a few below this one titled "Ants" and you'll find that the ants biting me related both to the filming of our documentary pilot and also to Michael (who was being filmed) coming up with his favourite phrase concerning our work, "It comes up to bite you on the bum".
WELL ..
As my car was hit from behind, it was definitely bitten on the bum.
AND ..
Yesterday and today Bob, the Director, was putting the finishing touches to the pilot .. which is being sent out to the people who need to see it in a few hours.
SO..
Time to reflect further .. I know there will be more to this story and to the insight I finally gain from the ant, anz, aami (etc) experience ...

Oh, and I forgot to say that the person who phoned me to tell me about Dream Network being a Finalist later told me he had a blue sports car.

Lovely, Michael,
It's edifying and humbling to know I am an ant playing my part in the great scheme of things. Along with all the other friendly (ami, amie) ants which help along the way. It's the best lifestyle. ;) Love it.

Another little unfolding from this dream:
One:
I was woken this morning by a phone call from the AAMI office in Melbourne asking if I wanted to take out AAMI insurance for my house contents! (No, I already have it, but see original dream ...)
Two:
I was followed for half my car journey to the ABC studios this morning (for a Dream Talk Back show) by a blue Z3 looking very much like the car in the same dream - and exactly the same colour. That will do very nicely thank you!

This has also all folded into an amazing story spanning several decades about the ANTarctic. It's too long and complex to record here today, but I just want to register the word "Antarctic" in this thread on this date for archival reasons. (Though this Antarctic thing actually began on the 17/18 October).

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?
________
Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way. Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ... Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.
Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams. When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness. At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity. To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.
Reality may never feel the same again!
______
P.S.
In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream. The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.
This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow. What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)
It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.
Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.
There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.
My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.
Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.
Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
