I was with a group of people that I did not know. The person leading these people was God.

God was coaxing me to take pills (overdose) with all of the others so I would die.

I did not want to. By the end of the dream I was still alive and everyone else dead.

Then I had a second overdose dream:

In the second dream a man was holding me hostage on a ship. He had killed everyone on board except me and another girl. I asked him if he was going to kill us also, and he said yes. I then decided to take pills to kill myself so I would not have to suffer from what he would do to me.

These dreams have scared me. I am in no way having any thoughts like this while awake. I am happy and in a wonderful marriage.

I seem to go through cycles where I dream vividly for about two weeks to the point where, when I wake up in the morning, I feel exhausted from dreaming so much.

Hi Charlie

Firstly can I suggest that you take a look at the "Pills" in the dream and in particular their symbolism/meaning - this will take the 'edge' off and also help you to perhaps make sense of the dream. Jane has really helped me to be aware of my own "personal feelings" about a word/object in a dream but also "PUNS"! do you have any particular associations with pills at the moment - when I think of pills I think of a contraceptive pill - other medication I consider to be tablets!?

So what is the pill you're being asked to take? a "bitter pill to swallow".... something in waking life you're being asked to believe whilst believing it not to be true for you?

Being with people you don't know - do you think they might be an unknown aspect of you or a part of yourself that you're just discovering? or a symbol of you being just one of the crowd - just blending in and not standing out???

Without knowing your personal religious/spiritual beliefs, do you think it was God as in the one and only or perhaps Prophet type character - what was he wearing, how did you know he was God - was there any dialogue? OR would you consider that the god leading these people could be a part of your higher self/wiser self? and if it is what "pill" would he be asking you to swallow?

Is there an aspect of your working life or spiritual life that is out of balance at the moment? Is there an aspect of your life that is outdated or needs change/to "die"?

With regards to being held "hostage" - is there anywhere in your life where you feel like someone else has control over you or that you can't exercise the freedom you wish? Perhaps your male side is being dominant at the moment and holding you hostage?

Perhaps the male aspect of you (work or assertiveness or need for assertiveness/aggresiveness) has you hostage - its interesting that you and another female survive - was there anything significant about this other girl?

Just some thoughts - look forward to hearing from you.

Dream 1 I'm thinking this might mean that your spiritual side (God) wants you to end (death) some sort of excessive behavior (overdose) Maybe too much emphasis on material posessions (physicalness, the ending of the body) Dream 2 Is there a situation that you are trying to get out of? (suicide) Maybe it is a situation where you don't feel in control of your life (hostage) You want it to end because you think that it will only get worse if you stay (suicide instead of being killed by man)

Hi guys! thank you for responding to my post! This all is beginning to make sense to me now, especially the second dream. I have been quite concerned about losing my independence lately. I have just moved to a new place, (just got married a few months ago, had to move for hubbies job) I have not been able to get a job as of yet because we only have one car, and live very far from town. So I guess I feel a little dependant on my husband right now. That bothers me, because up until now I have been very independent. That might explain my dreams I guess! Thanks!

So the death in the dream could mean the "death" of your independence. Also you commiting suicide rather than be killed by the man might mean that you would rather not give up your independence. You may also feel bored because you are not doing all that you used to do. you might try to think of some creative things to do. That might help you to gain some of your independence back. But now that you are married, it won't be like it used to be.
