"Not My Dream"

Author

Subject: Not my dream

I've just come through a messy business partnership failure. In short I've been concerned recently that maybe i wouldn't unravel the partnership without going broke or as I've described to my wife on a number of occasions "functionally bankrupt" but not "technically bankrupt". (I won't explain this, you'll understand below). I've been trying to remember my dreams for the last fewq weeks but they have been very scarce. But my "wife" had this dream.....

My family was living in a house on a cliff next to a large wild ocean. My family had decided to go out for dinner (Debbie & 2 children) On the way my wife said we need to turn around, there's a big storm coming and we need to prepare. I agred and we returned home.

I was stiing in bed trying to remember my dreams from the night before when my wife said without prompting. "I had a dream" and recited the above.

The synchronicities as i see them are :

* My wife hardly ever shares her dreams with me. For her to share willingly is very unusual. This dream "felt' like it was meant for me. It has much personal significance for what I've just been through. (and yes I'm open to opinions) * When I looked up "Storm" in a dream dictionary I had only a couple of days earlier loaned from the library it quoted "....functional bankruptcy....". This just could not be a coincidence.

The presence of the dream has reminded me of some very distant childhood memories that caused me to have an unhealthy attitude to money.

My wife does not feel the dream is of significance to her but does feel it is significant to me.

....er....wow.

Hi Mark9417

I'm not strong on symbol-interpretation so I won't comment on the dream itself as the connection is obviously there to your current circumstances although it is her dream. I'd just like to say instead that I wish you well in resolving your current situation and wish you prosperity in the future when the ocean is calm again.

Hi Mark & Stace2,

How about taking a huge step back from the situation and looking through the eye of symbolism:

That your wife Mark in waking life, is your 'female side': your Yin, your creative, nurturing, intuitional, emotional, spiritual side. She has just shared and revealed something which feels meaningful to the 'male side' which she disowns as unimportant or not significant to herself. What this does is to take you back to an emotional equation from childhood which may form part of your prosperity-conditioning.

Looks, to me, as if this endorses a time for you to listen more to your intuitional, creative, emotional, nurturing, spiritual side (within yourself) as opposed to the 'men in dark suit' male side which you have perhaps just farwelled in the Dream Forum.

I would see this synchronicity as a milestone in a transformational turnaround for you Mark.

And what magic! A dream dictionary that gives 'functional bankruptcy' for 'storm' ... wow ... not by a million years in my understanding of dreams, but the book nevertheless gave you the perfect wake-up call.

'Functionally' ... how about focussing on the word 'functional' and the different ways of functioning, and what functioning means to you ........ then go along the track (train track?) of different ways of functioning: not lesser but different.

And I too endorse Stace2's wishes for you.

WHAT IS
SYNCHRONICITY?

Jane Teresa's Explanation

Jane Teresa Anderson

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

________

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

______

P.S.

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
