"Changing Careers"

Author

Subject: Changing Careers?

Rick B

I have been considering a change in career from my present government position to one in the helping profession. Within two weeks, I met two people in the helping field. The first was a friend of a co-worker. Now, I would never have imagined that this co-worker would ask me to do anything with him, but he asked me to go to a concert (Chuck Berry; really great show). His friend who met us there is a newly graduated psychotherapist whom I pestered for information about his new job. Then on 7/31 I met a guy who is a probation officer.

I am using the services of a career counselor at my present work and have started to talk about this more. I am wondering if the universe is sending these people my way as an affirmation of the direction I have chosen. Seems like the more seriously I take this, the more stuff happens.

Wow Rick!!!

Its strange, through these forums (I suspect we all have...) I have built up an image, feeling and profession for most people who I see regular posts from.

Can I just say I would NEVER have imagined you in a government position. Through what you show here on the forums, I naturally assumed you were in a helping profession. Hypocritically/ ironically I too work for the government (Sydney Olympics) and I do the dream/ astrology stuff as well.

Rick, fly and be free and do what you're destined to do..... once you found out what it is!!! hee hee, that's the hard part!

If money and education didn't matter, what in your wildest dreams would you want to do?

Rick

Go to where you heart leads you, I too work in the helping profession, I find this work very rewarding. The money's no good but the satisfaction in the work place more than make up for it. Also i find it takes my mind off my cares and worries while at work. I get many volunteers through the system who come just to give a little. Why not you there is no reason why you can not give as well as being paid for it.

GO for it GO, Rick, GO for Gold.

Gunter.

Hi Rick

I was talking to a friend of mine on the phone last night. She has just applied for a new job and doesn't know if she has got it yet, but everywhere she turns she is seeing this company's name on buses and finding their brochures in bizare places.

Thanks all for your input. Julia, if money and education and physical conditions didn't matter, I would be an anthropologist working with shamans in the Amazon rain forest! Or an archeologist digging in the sands of Egypt! My fantasy of winning the lottery would be to go study art history in Europe and learn to paint.

Anyway, the steps toward something that would be more satisfying are laid out before me. Tonight I am leading my therapy group because my therapist is attending a wake. I thought that was his vote of confidence for me. So I guess the synchs continue. Thanks for the cheering, Gunter. As with all the changes I have made in my life, I suspect this one will be some time in happening.

Sorry I have to do this..... your therapist attended a wake and you're more "awake" and confident about what you want to do!

I remember vividly a dream Jane had many moons ago, although I can't remember specific detail she dreamt about all these full moons passing over - the passage of time!? (the dream was more significant than that though). I hope over the next few full moons Rick you dig and discover within your sands some answers as to what you want to do!!

Thank you, Julia, that is my hope too, and will continue to do the work put in front of me.

Hi Rick, A few years back I decided to wind up my business. Although there were some parts of it that I enjoyed, I wasn't really passionate about it any more. I knew there had to be something else I was meant to do - so I just asked to be shown in ways I'd understand, what was my special gift? - What was it that I could do like no-one else?

Within about a week, I had experienced a series of synchronicities which pointed me in the general direction. I responded immediately, but further synchronicites showed me that if I pushed too hard it would not work. So I waited. (I actually needed some time to tie up the loose ends of my old business.) About 9 months later (gestation!) and on the last day, with my last client, my new direction became clearer. Today the process of learning and fine tuning continues, but I know I'm on the right track, and I love it!

So, Rick - why don't you just ask?

WHAT IS
SYNCHRONICITY?

Jane Teresa's Explanation

Jane Teresa Anderson

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

________

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

______

P.S.

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
