I was going to some kind of conference and I was sharing a room (even a bed) with a very beautiful woman I'd never met.
She took me up to the room which seemed to be a suite. Before we entered she said something to me like "play along". When we entered, there were many people in the room. We seemed to be involved in one of those murder mystery parties or something. We had to play along in character. The people soon left, and we went to bed. It was strictly plutonic.
We awoke the next morning and went to the beach. As we walk, we see that a Chihuly* (see note at end) exhibit is being hung.
So we approach Chihuly and his assistant on the beach where they are hanging glass objects from posts all along the shoreline. My friend becomes immediately attracted to his assistant, and they wander off together to find a place to have sex.
I stay with Chihuly. There is a display of glass items that look like Christmas tree ornaments. There are all different shapes and I notice some are in the shape of fish.
I discover that there are live fish swimming in these fish-shaped baubles. They are the type of fish that are territorial and when they can see the other fish they make the whole ornament move trying to get to them.
There is one odd ornament that looks like a petroglyph. There is a live ancient fish in that one and he also battles with the other fish. His ornament is made of rock instead of glass.
I help Chihuly hang his glass. Then I sit on the beach and begin to look at the rocks. They are very pretty and colorful. Chihuly comes over and starts to look at the rocks too. He decides to incorporate some of them into his designs just like the fish.
I pick up a rock to show him. It is a very deep purple color. I say, "This one is pretty. But I suppose the color only looks good when it's wet."
Then, at the exact same time, we both say "You'd have to shellack it." And we look at each other and know we have made a soul connection.
Note:
* Chihuly is an artist who works in glass. He does small scale, museum type showings, as well as gigantic scale outdoor showings. He recently hung glass sculptures all over the canals of Venice. It was controversial. I admire his talent as well as his courage to try anything and push the limits of what's possible.
