I was in a library type of building. Upstairs I went into a smaller room.
In this room I stood holding a white rat.
In front of me sat a dog (cattle dog type) and a cat. The dog was sitting, wanting me to give it the signal to get the cat.
The cat was sitting still watching the rat.
The dog wanted the cat but was held back by me; the cat wanted the rat but was held back by me; and I was anxiously trying to protect the rat from the cat.
I was trying to protect the rat so much that I inadvertently held it too tight and hurt it. I felt bad then.
Note:
Since this dream I had virtually the same dream again except this time the rat was brown and fierce. It was trying to bite or eat my face and I was trying to hold it down so it couldn't hurt me.
