"Message Via Foot"

Author

Subject: Message via foot

Melinda

19:35 25/07/2000

After experiencing a lot of torment regarding my life direction (having returned from 3 years o.s.) I finally decided to do a course to gain further qualifications and then go o.s. again as I really want to travel.

The first half of this year I hadn't really worked but finally got lots of contract work coming from all directions - more than I could take on. I was happy, finally, about my life direction/work etc. I completed one contract job - it was short but fun. The next was a week long but at the end walked away thinking that maybe this wasn't the career for me afterall. I just didn't like the work environment that I knew I'd end up in - inside a small room with no windows, conservative boring people etc.

That weekend I went to a family reunion and saw a cousin I hadn't seen in 10 years. I talked to his brother (first time in ages) on the phone (he lives in Cairns). That night I hurt my foot.

I had to start a new job the next day..so despite my foot went off to work - it wasn't enjoyable. Again the next day I went to work and hated it. I finally went to the doctor re: my foot and was kind of hoping that it was broken or fractured so that I wouldn't have to go to work and finish that job - I hated it that much!! Well, it was fractured!

I called up and told my employer I couldn't finish the job. She said it was fine and I felt so happy.

I really started thinking about changing my career but, I had paid a NON REFUNDABLE $450 deposit on a course to further my qualifications in that career!! Oh no!!! Maybe I'd have to do the course afterall.

The next day the college called to say the course had been cancelled and they'd give me a full refund. YIPPEE!!! I was free.

I started thinking about other careers/courses. Interior design/photography etc came to mind - I'd been thinking about them for a while. I started looking into courses etc. I was watching a movie and the main character was a designer/children's book illustrator (another thing I want to do). I bought a photography magazine I often buy and the main article was about a design student(doing a course I had looked into) who wanted to major in photography and design (like me).

The next day I spent resting my foot and drawing. I watched a movie in which a woman wanted to change her life/career and become an interior designer. Wow!

Also, I rang a friend who lives up north whom I've been meaning to call for a while. She said she's moving near Cairns and is living a great lifestyle (one that I've wanted for ages). She's got time off soon and said to go up and see her while she's in Cairns for a week. It seems coincidental because I just made contact with my cousin who lives there. So, when my foots a little better I'll go and see what's waiting for me there.

A long story but there seems to be a lot of synchronicity/coincidences. I still haven't decided what I'll do. I'll just see how things go in the next few weeks. Any thoughts/comments?

Hi Melinda

I really enjoyed reading your post. Looks like two big issues here: lifestyle and work.

I think the key is to find balance in both - I've been thinking about this lately and can very much relate to your "wanting to go overseas/attraction to Cairns type life style" as well as realising your career isn't really what you wanted after all.

I think it's great that these outer world syncs are only confirming what you feel on the inside.

I think where we get unbalanced in life is where we sacrifice important parts of ourselves for other important parts.

I am trying to find a balance in both areas - like you career is important to me - but lifestyle has just come up to the same level of importance. I think if we only satisfy one part of us, the others will keep crying out for attention, disintegrating the part of us that is satisfied.

Thanks Belinda. I'm glad someone can understand. I think part of me just stopped myself physically and made me look at what I've been ignoring. Since I've taken time off work I've been drawing all day and night - something I love but haven't done for a while.

I definately have a conflict in that I really want security but also crave a lifestyle that isn't very secure.

A friend said that if you follow your passions, money will follow/find you.

I decided a couple of years ago that money isn't as important as lifestyle/happiness.

There is still that voice in the back of my head though that tells me I should think about financial security.

WHAT IS
SYNCHRONICITY?

Jane Teresa's Explanation

Jane Teresa Anderson

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

________

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

______

P.S.

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
