"Kites!"

Author

Subject: Kites!

I do not even know if this counts as a synchronicity Jane, but it has been on my mind so much that I wanted to offer it here to everyone for comment.

I was in a pub with some friends and one, Brian, was lamenting his sad history and present with romantic partners.Present also was my new amourous interest (yup, again, sorry for sounding like a lovesick hound!) After 20 minutes of Brian's hounddogging Julie simply smiled and said, "you need a kite" as if to her way of thinking that would solve all and any problem.

And so, while shopping on mother's day I was seized with the idea of buying a kite for Julie as a present(a Pooh kite!)

On Saturday, Julie brought me a copy of the original "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens" (wherein Peter is a 7 day old babe who was born as a bird - excerpted from the novel 'The Little White Bird'- absolutely brilliant and full of wisdom) Anyway, on the cover of this book is a wonderful print by Arthur Rackham (1906) of the babe Peter Pan flying through the air clinging to a kite being pulled along by several birds.

"After that they laughed at Peter for being so fond of the kite; he loved it so much that he even slept with one hand on it, and I think this was pathetic and pretty, for the reason he loved it was because it had belonged to a real boy."

What shall I call a symbol that is not really a sychronicity but I am sure is pointing the way for me somehow?

Thank you for indulgence, Liam

Hi Liam,

You call it a synchroncity: a meaningful outer world reflection of an inner world shift in consciousness which is bursting with great symbolism all around you.

I had two bird synchronicities over the weekend. The turkey one which I posted above before reading your post, and the 'kite' one:

Well - I don't know if it's a kite and it embarasses me at this point to remember that I have an Honours degree in Zoology, but anyway:

There is a bird which appears at my window only when a friend, Bob, phones. Bob might phone a couple of times a month and then maybe not at all for several months. (I described this bird and the longer story in the Members Forum around March or April, which you, being a member, can access.) The bird is a most unusual visitor for this city garden. It has a long pheasanty tail but an eagle-like beak and eagle like claws. It makes a sound like a corncrake.

Anyway, this bird (well - probably a different individual!) appeared at the holiday house mentioned in the post above. In fact, it was the appearance of this bird that made me tell the Turkey Story .. for which the post above is the follow up.

Is it a kite? Is it an eagle? Is it a Superman? Is it a Superwoman? Did Bob call?

The answer to the last one was a confusing "no".

Oh and yes .. Bob has a degree in Zoology too, but not from the same time and place.

Set your sights high and fly one and all ...

Jane - why don't you call Bob.. love, sd

Hi Liam, Jane and cute Sd!

I just have to add to this because as I was exchanging weekend tales with my girlfriend this evening, she said that on Saturday she and her boyfriend had gone kite-flying!

It's been such a long time since I've thought of kite-flying, it struck me to hear of it twice in one day.

I think it is synchronicity too, Liam. You bought the kite for her. She brought you the book. The reference to the kite in the book brings your two minds together and perhaps it now presents you with the wonders to come.

Do bliss-away with the synchs. and the new love, Liam. It's truly lovely to watch!

Angela.

WHAT IS
SYNCHRONICITY?

Jane Teresa's Explanation

Jane Teresa Anderson

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

________

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

______

P.S.

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
