Subject: Big Wheelie Bin

Billr

07:48 31/08/2002

A big purple wheelie bin had bright yellow flowers and bright yellow wheels. There was a trail of ordinary little black ants, going from the front lower corner diagonally up to the top corner and into the lid.

The bin was the bedside table. It was very clean and it didn't have any smell. It seemed quite normal for the bin to be the bedside table.

All I could think was I'd have to spray those b***** ants, they'd get in anywhere.

I'm new to this, can't anyone help?

Hi Billr, I do not know whether I can help, but I feel that bright flowers mean pleasure and gain. Maybe a whole wheelie bin of pleasure and gain.

I waited as I thought you should get some sort of answer. I am surprised no one else, especially the experts, have no ideas. Come on, can anyone else elaborate?

Hi Billr & Virgo,

I'm surprised too that no-one has replied to this interesting dream.

One reason may be that the Members' Forum, which is always very busy, has been speeding along with some very long posts over the last couple of weeks, so much of the energy has been focussed over there.

Ants are interesting creatures - they are very clean (they enter houses to eat and remove leftover food and debris) and yet we get irritated by them and seek to spray them - to keep them from coming indoors.

Which makes an interesting parallel to the wheelie bins (for non-Australians, these wheelie bins are our outdoor garbage bins).

In your dream, Bill, your wheelie bins (places for putting debris) were clean and indoors. Just as ants (animals which take debris) are clean and come indoors.

In your dream you wished to keep the ants out. The wheelie bins were in your bedroom. (You were happy to keep these in.)

The bedroom may symbolise rest, relaxation, private and personal space, relationship and so on. Your dream may be looking at any of these personal areas, looking at what needs to be cleaned up or at what you have been cleaning up.

Ask yourself whether you are trying to keep out irritating situations/ people (ants) that could, in fact, be helpful in clearing up personal issues.

You could do a dream alchemy dialogue:

Take a piece of paper and allow yourself no more than 20 minutes to do this. Try not to think - this is a quick gut-reaction exercise. Just let it flow.

On the paper, write a conversation between a purple/yellow wheelie bin and the 'chief ant'. Start like this:

Wheelie Bin: "Ah, so you're the chief ant. How did you find me?"

Chief Ant: "....

(Just let it flow, Bill. It will seem really silly when you do this, but something will emerge. If you like, post your results here and I will look out for them and comment).

Hope this helps,

Jane Teresa

Thanks for your replies Virgo & Jane, I like your idea Virgo, but Jane I got stuck, staring into space with your suggestion, could not get the conversation going.

Hey Bill,

I hope I'm not too late to catch your attention. I'm not a dream expert, but I know a more than average amount about ants, and when I read your dream I thought of 1 thing...completion of a cycle.

Ants and countless other invertebrates are priceless to us because they recycle our waste and either eat it or bury it underground - helping to make soil. Although soil may seem mundane, it actually takes hundreds of years to produce, and despite our awesome technology, we still can't make soil like ants and life forms can...

hope this helps, even in some small way...

Ant guardian

BTW - I'm doing a PhD on those ordinary little black ants! -no ants are ordinary!!! :)
