Subject: Sting and Lightning

Hey, after that Sting discussion, I realized this is a new facet of my lightning synchs.

While I was living in Massachusettes, I went to see a Sting concert at SPAC (a mostly covered arena). I had lawn seats, so, of course, it began to pour rain in buckets. A massive thunderstorm with some of the most hair-raising lightning I've ever seen. I was with my best friend (at the time) who really wanted to leave. I told her to go, but I was staying. She stayed and complained the whole time, but it didn't keep it from being one of the most wonderfully intense memories of my life (I'm getting goosebumps right now).

Many people left, but there we were, the diehards, shouting and dancing under soggy blankets, watching the bolts of lightning strike all around us.

After every song, Sting would say, "Are you lawn people, OK?" Which just made it better. I was blissful the whole ride home even though I was soaked.

So, for the past week, I've been obsessively trying to book a trip to the other place I communed with lightning (a desert in the Southwest)- the place where my short story is set. The place where the relationship between myself and that former best friend finally dissolved.

My family asks me why I want to go to this place, and all I can come up with is, "To reconnect with the lightning..."

BTW, if you ever get a chance to see Sting in concert, do it. He brings a hell of a light show!

Lynn - weird - have been obsessing about buying a house in the States , I'm getting some money back that I lent ten years ago.. someone mentioned the Southwest yesterday.. what does that mean?? what places? In general, I'm looking for something secluded but safe, cheap, farm,ranch or just a shack and I have no idea where to begin. Do you know the east coast? I'll just ask everyone I know and narrow this down, I should do it in June when I am in Vermont again - or at least in August when I am in San Diego.

I know quite a bit about the Southwest US (especially Colorado and New Mexico), and a bit about Upstate NY, Vermont, and Mass.

Throw some names at me of towns or areas that are quiet,safe but acessible, then I can check on the prices. Vermont and Mass especially interest me.. New Mexico's landscape is??? weather is dry, hot??? Tell me what comes to your head if you have time.. Been to Wyoming?

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
