Subject: Glowing Iridescent Blue |
Susie |
09:51 13/08/2002 |
Twice I've had a dream about a blue scalp or skull. The first time it was just a beautiful glowing iridescent blue scalp with a few wisps of hair here and there. The second time all I could remember when I woke was a beautiful blue skull cap.

Overview Interpretation & Dream Alchemy Practice suggestion |
OVERVIEW INTERPRETATION
Hi Susie,
When only a fragment of a dream is recalled it can be difficult for someone other than the dreamer to elucidate its meaning. Dream symbols are best understood by looking at their relationship to the other symbols, events and feelings in the dream. Think of a dream as a completed jigsaw puzzle and a symbol as one piece of that puzzle. Viewed alone the piece gives you very little, if any, insight into the meaning of the whole picture.
But you, the dreamer, do know, deep in your unconscious mind, the meaning of each symbol in your dream, so the key to understanding a single symbol is to ask your unconscious mind. One of the best ways to do this is to dialogue with the symbol. I have suggested a dialogue dream alchemy practise for you.
You have given a strong clue though! You have had two dreams, the first version showing a scalp, the second a skull cap. When a dream theme repeats it is interesting to note any changes as these indicate how you are progressing or regressing with the issue. Your blue colour has moved from the skin of the head further out into the world in the form of a cap.
Sometimes the head, in dreams, represents thinking or conditioned thoughts. Since hair grows from the head, it may represent ideas, which also come from the head. What we do with hair in dreams (colour, style and so on) sometimes reflects how we are utilising and expressing our ideas.
In your dream there are wisps of hair in the first dream. Perhaps these are the beginnings of new ideas following a period of baldness – of lack of creative ideas. Wisps of hair could be the leftovers after the balding process but the glowing iridescence of the skull in your dream suggests more vitality. Perhaps the second dream reflects what you can manifest from your ideas. Not a skull cap, but something physical, the materialisation of an idea.
When you look at the colour blue, what feeling does it give you? What does it remind you of? Do your answers remind you of a situation in your life today?
DREAM ALCHEMY PRACTICE
Dialogue:
Your dialogue is between a yourself and the blue skull cap. Start with you saying, “What kind of person wears a blue skull cap like you?” and see what the skull cap automatically answers. Keep it going for 20 minutes.
How to do this:
Give yourself no longer than 20 minutes. When you do this exercise do NOT think! Don’t plan ahead. Just let whatever happens happen. Let the two entities speak to each other on paper using whatever words come up. It’s a bit like writing a film script or play – but without the brain being involved.
How does this work?
By not thinking, by keeping the words flowing, you are letting your right brain and unconscious mind do most of the work. They created the original dream so they know what these symbols mean for you. They will reveal. You will be surprised.

Hi Susie,
I'm fascinated. I've had a similar dream experience in a slightly different way. My glowing colour -- semi liquid and semi gaseous -- was cyan blue, which when I looked it up, I found the word originated from the Greek meaning 'green/blue' and the Latin meaning 'hair'!
Are you able to remember the hue of blue?

Yes it was blond in wisps about 2-3 inches apart about 2-3 inches long. Strange because I have brown/grey hair. |

Duh, I misread your question. The blue was like a beautiful aqua blue. Thanks again Susie |

Hi Susie,
That sounds very similar to the dream colour I received.
There are several ways to look at a straight dream image like that. Often dreams will bring up unconscious conflicts going on in everyday life through symbolic form and they usually come in little or long plot-like dreams. However, sometimes, we get this -- just an image, or just a flash.
My belief is that all dreams hold multitudes of meanings, that sometimes can continue to unravel years later. In my experience, flash dreams usually have a direct message pinpointing something quite present.
If you'd like to try to uncover your blue scalp meaning, I'd suggest to, first of all, look at it personally. What feelings did you have at the time? Was there awe? Fear?
What are your associations with this colour blue? When you think of it what comes to mind?
If you can explain your feelings and associations here, we will better be able to work through this with you. So, this is a start, but I'll also say that as well as the personal in this particular case, since my dream image was similar and also with a hair result, I'm feeling very strongly there is a collective unconscious energy connecting to this. However, as fast as I'm reading and re-reading, I've not found the link yet. And, perhaps, being that it's unconscious, there may be no documentation on this at all! I expect it does go deeper, to a more universal level, but I'm also wondering that we may just find the key through our own personal messages.
Also, do you remember if something similar was going on in your life during the time of each of these dreams?

Wow a lot to think about, first I was in awe of the vivid glowing, iridescent blue color in the first dream, it was the most beautiful blue I've ever seen.
In the second dream I don't really recall seeing the blue skull cap, just waking up and that's was all I could remember and that the blue color again was a vivid beautiful color of blue.
As far as what going on my life A LOT MAJOR HEAVY DUTY EXTENDED FAMILY STUFF. Which I've finally close the door on changed our phone number and said enough, hasn't stopped all the after thoughts, but it's stopped the reacurring issues.
Any way thanks for all your imput, I'm sure it has some kind of relevant to what's been happening as I've had other dreams I've been able to decipher in regards to this situation. Thanks again, Susie |

Hi Susie,
Now that brings a whole new light to things! And possibly even points to what's going on beneath that scalp...
Iridescent is how you've described this colour several times. That makes the word itself quite significant.
Iri -- Could be referring to your ire?
Iri -- Could also be focusing back on you through the iris -- your eye or I...
Descent -- You've just descended by closing the door.
Hair continues to grow shortly after death does it not? So, what could this be saying about your afterthoughts?
And we mustn't forget the beauty and vividness of this dream. Since the blue chakra is where our communication energy is located, has this communicating and expressing of your boundaries, despite the difficulty, given you renewed vivacious and beautiful energy in other ways?

Well I might add my 92 yr old Grandmother passed away about a month ago, Stangely I was very happy for her, because she was in such misery. She was the only one I visited with or cared to associate with on my side of the family for the last 7 months. Without going into details the situation peaked right after her death and that's when I shut the door. Yes I felt relief and I felt they could no longer hurt my family or myself any longer. I must still fear their tactic's because last night I dreamt my sister called me, and I asked her where she got our phone number, being it's unlisted and blocked. So as for feeling renewed, in a way yes, I feel I'm in control now not them and they can't hurt us anymore I hope!!! Thanks very much for you're insight, I really enjoyed reading and learning of you're knowledge of dreams. I'm a beginner on dream interpretation and very intrigued on the subject. Thanks again, Susie |

Hi Susie,
It's pure pleasure for me. I was particularly intrigued by your image and wanted to see if we could figure out how come we had a similar dream. Dream interpretation is fascinating, isn't it!
My suspicions are that the cyan/aqua blue colour is connected to after death energy on the universal level. That you added the part about your grandmother's death at that time, continues to make sense to me.
For myself, when I tried to think of colours that reminded me of the colour in my dream, I came up with the power supply and receiving box icons on my computer. These are more cartoony than the dream colour, but the closest I could get.
This is where it moves, I believe, deeper into the universal unconscious. If I take my personal connections -- the play on words with 'power supply' and 'receiving box' -- and put them outwards, they could represent what energizes me and what energies I might 'receive' at the point of, or after someone dies.
As well as having particular anxieties about your waking life scenario, you could look at your next dream here symbolically. One of the dead giveaways that something is in the way of our own thinking is when a 'block' or a 'wall' comes up in a dream.
In waking life you've had to block your family. So this blocked communication vehicle (phone number) is showing up in your dream as a message that something is blocked within you. Even after you've done what you've needed to do on a physical level to protect yourself from being hurt, you are still feeling the afterthoughts and the hurts. These are the ones that are solely inside you, that are trying to express themselves through your dreams.
If you are interested in getting at that block to work out the anxieties, here are a couple questions to start opening it up:
Are you able to communicate what you are feeling in regular scenarios, to people who don't pose a threat to you?
Also if you had to describe three ways your sister approaches life, what would they be?
Angela.
