I was standing at the back of the batting line for baseball during PE at school and was wearing my uniform, a short plaid skirt and green polo shirt. I had a black jacket on even though the day was sunny.

This guy I didn't know came next to me in line and we stood a bit in silence. I was kind of wondering who he was because I come from a small school of 38 students and we all know each other.

I glanced over at him a few times. He wasn't looking at me, so I looked away and watched the game, bored.

Suddenly I felt his hand on my butt, but I ignored it because he pulled away quickly. A few moments later a felt it again, and, rather annoyed, I looked up and snapped, "Stop it!" He glared at me for a moment and I threw a punch at him, which he blocked. (I know what I am doing because I'm in karate, so this surprised me.) He flipped me over on the ground and I coughed a bit of dust up, glaring up at him.

He stood above me, laughing slightly. I jumped up, kicking him repeatedly. Each time, my kicks missed because I couldn't get them high enough, my shoes weighed too much. I threw a punch at him to distract him long enough for me to kick my shoes off. He blocked my punch, still laughing, and I kicked my shoes over a small creek.

I then proceeded to beat the living hell out of him, until he was lying in the dirt, bloody and groaning. Everyone was gathered around him, trying to see if he was okay. I covered my mouth in my hands, trying not to throw up, unable to believe what I had just done to him.

Hi Rosalyn,

Quite a few people will relate to your dream, and they are all likely to be people who generally hold back from expressing their anger or frustration.

In dreams, emotions we try to hold back during the day often find expression, but they go way overboard. It's as if the emotions have been kept under pressure (which, really, they have) and then they just suddenly blow.

In such a dream, anger is violent and the dreamer gets to perform amazing feats - as you did with him.

In your dream this was all possible once you kicked off your heavy shoes. In dreams our shoes can symbolise our 'standing' or 'position' in life - they can be what holds us firmly to the ground or to our beliefs.

Your dream, with your heavy shoes, suggests you have been feeling 'weighed down' by keeping up your position/ appearance in the world. Staying grounded perhaps - resisting expressing your feelings.

(The idea, of course, is not to express violence, but to communicate about how you feel and, in communicating, find a way to soothe the anger and manage life in a more empowering and harmonious way.)

So, where is this anger coming from?

In your dream it was being blocked and unacknowledged that caused the anger. What situation, in your waking life, leaves you feeling blocked or unacknowledged? What is leaving you feeling dis-empowered (unable to kick high enough)?

Just some starting points for you to consider, Rosalyn.

It's great if you can reply here with your thoughts, then everyone who reads the forum gets to learn more about dream interpretation.
