"Lady Bugs"

Author

Subject: lady bugs

Reading about Libra Lynn's hummingbirds inspired me to write this... Over Christmas I was home visiting my husband (we live in separate states for the year)and I found a lady bug in the house. I though that was kind of cool (I like lady bugs)and I put it outside on the deck. Two days after I came back to work, I noticed a lady bug on a file folder. I put in my african violet and made a mental note to put it outside after work. A few hours later I heard a bug flying into the florescent light. It happened to be 3 lady bugs. Turns out I had 8 of them in my office! I guess they hatched from one of my plants. I rounded them up, fed them aphids and set them free the next morning (it was cold that night). This past week, I rescued another one (two others had died) from an associate's office. And today I was browsing through some cards and found one for my anniversary with lady bugs on it. When I found them in my office, an associate came into my office and said I should have a kick "---" year because lady bugs are supposed to be good luck. I've had no luck finding info on the "meaning behind lady bugs"; Any ideas? I thought they were Spring bugs...

Hi Dianne.

Loved your Lady Bugs... Lynn, do you have any info? I've had some wonderful synchs. with spiders and a writer. Lynn found me a terrific write-up on spiders that linked them back to writing -- that the web was originally used as an alphabet tool for communicating! I was thrilled.

So Lynn? Any lady bugs in your library?

What if you were to treat them like a dream Dianne? What comes to mind when you think of a lady bug? Give it a go from there... And do let us know.

Angela.

Just a couple of asides (threads?) here:

Angela: you'll love this addition to your spiders & writers synchronicities. Your post today was the first I've heard of this synch, but I chose an image of a spiders web on Sunday for our new Dream Gallery exhibition: today I've been writing it up! It should be uploaded sometime before the end of this month (click 'Gallery').

So - I'm going to stay silent on what the other new Dream Gallery image is, except to say it's NOT a lady bug!

Dianne: Yes, Lynn is one of our animal experts. I call lady bugs "ladybirds" (English!); and my last experience which does connect back to this forum, was that I met JuliA (of this forum) in late December, after not seeing her for three years. Glen (my husband) came with me, and while we were talking I watched a ladybird land on Glen's back (quite rare, hey?) and thought, "Hmm... sign of money", as my childhood conditioning is that ladybirds bring money. The same week I dreamed of handling wads of hundred dollar bills (inches thick). I've been in the strange position, in the last week, of handling large wads of money three times ... often in transit from a) to b) or in strange circumstances, but nonetheless, an odd event for me. (May it become less odd!)

Dianne, remember also that synchronicities borrow similar symbolism to dreams, and that dreams frequently use puns and word plays. Could it be that the lady (you) feels bugged (annoyed?) in some way? Or, if you regard them as 'spring bugs', what has recently sprung or germinated in your life which is bugging? Or do you, like me, associate ladybirds with money ...? As with dreams, personal symbolism is important ...

Now - I must go and visualise more of those wads of money ..!

Hello again:

Now here's a synchronicity within a synchronicity: live to air, so to speak:

If you're a member you'll be able to verify this one and follow up on it:

My post above, as you can see, was uploaded at 16.34 (Queensland time), which was the time I pressed 'enter' for my post. I refreshed my screen and noticed that someone else had posted into the Members Community Forum at the exact same time (16.34). I went over to see who it was that pressed 'enter' simultaneously with me. It was Lynn, replying to JuliA: both of whom I was busily writing about in MY 16.34 post.

Love it. Jane Anderson

Interesting. I've always thought lady bugs to be good luck signs. Maybe it's money and not luck. I'm in the middle of negotiating a raise. I recently found out that I was not hired 6 months ago at a competitive rate or job grade. I've been assured that they will fix it shortly. It's as much as $20,000 annually - maybe that's why I've seen so many lady bugs!!! So, Bring on the Lady Bugs!

p.s. Yes, I just joined tonight. This has been an enlightening forum. And, Jane, I do agree how neat sychronicities are. I had an amazing one yesterday, in fact. And I'm also always amazed at how disinterested people are because they see them as coincidences and not a natural process of spiritual connection.

Sorry, gang. I haven't checked in recently. Had to laugh out loud at being called an expert. :)

I tried to find a reference to ladybugs, but was unsuccessful. I've always loved the little guys, they're such a perky color. I had just been reading about them (via a nature book that I was ordering from Amazon.) when I checked the member's forum and was led here by a message from Jane.

OK, that doesn't help much, but at least it shows that you're already a part of our little community if we're having synchs with you.

Dianne,

Thought I'd come back to this one. I was flipping through a magazine today and turned to a huge picture of a lady bug. The caption said something about the lady bug being a natural alternative to pesticides -- so a factor in maintaining healthy life...?

Does that give you any further meaning?

Angela.

Sorry I've been missing in action for a few days -- my husband was in town so I stayed off the computer.

Thanks for all of the input. I also found out that Lady bugs are migratory in nature. They clean the garden of aphids and then move on or they starve. That's pretty symbolic of my nature as well. In addition, it's kind of neat that I try to always buy organically grown food. When my raise comes through, it will be interesting to see if I stop finding lady bugs.

In the meantime, I keep finding more lady bugs in the office and setting them free.

Since my posting this synch, I've had numerous other synchs --- mostly irrelevant like thinking that I'd like to win tickets again to the comedy club and they called that morning. They speed up in frequency when you start paying attention to them!

I'll catch you all in another topic!

Dianne

WHAT IS
SYNCHRONICITY?

Jane Teresa's Explanation

Jane Teresa Anderson

WHAT IS SYNCHRONICITY?

________

Synchronicity occurs when you experience a coincidence, or several coincidences, that seem so bizarre that you feel they must be meaningful in some way.

Some people believe that synchronicities are signs to follow, to lead you to where you are 'meant' to be. My understanding, however, is that not all synchronicities are to be followed, because ...

Synchronicities are SYMBOLS of where you're at, not signs to follow.

Synchronicities speak the same symbolic language as dreams.

When you experience a synchronicity, you are witnessing a change within yourself, an insight, a birth of something that has been unconscious bubbling up into consciousness.

At such times of change we see, all around us, symbols that reflect our shift in perception and self-understanding. This is synchronicity.

To understand this fully, and to see why it is not always appropriate to follow synchronicity, you can read my book, THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. This way you can also discover how to read the synchronicities in your life and how to act on them in positive, life-enhancing ways.

Reality may never feel the same again!

______

P.S.

In Jungian terms all synchronicities begin with a dream.

The dream comes first, then the symbol from the dream appears in waking life in ways that seem incredibly meaningful - though, classically, it is hard to understand, consciously, what that meaning is.

This is because the dream is painted by your unconscious mind in advance of your conscious mind 'catching up'. When the insight (unconscious shift) is big, synchronicities follow.

What happens is that your incredibly powerful unconscious mind (far more powerful than your conscious mind) manifests its insight physically into your waking life. (You have changed - the world, as you experience it, changes in accordance.)

It usually takes up to a couple of weeks before your conscious mind understands the symbolic dream manifesting in your waking life as synchronicity.

Being human, as we all are, we often forget the original dream but still experience the synchronicities.

There are many excellent reference sources on Jungian synchronicity.

My approach is largely Jungian, but slightly shifted.

Again, if you are seriously in-depth interested, I suggest you read my book "THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME" to understand where I am coming from.

Quite simply, synchronicity is a waking dream and interpreting it as such is immensely enriching.
