Eleven years online! Changes and predictions
©Jane Teresa Anderson, May 2009

We’re celebrating our 11th birthday today! Eleven years online, and 129 Dream Sight News articles amassed along the way!
I hope you’ll be as excited as I am about the changes we’re introducing, not only to this newsletter but also to how we’re getting the dream message out there. Today I’m pausing to look back at some predictions I made in my 1998 book, The Shape of Things to Come, while under hypnosis; and to share a couple of stories from the past eleven years online before introducing you to the shape of Dream Sight things from this point forward. I know you’ll love what we’ve got coming up for you … but first, let’s look back.
LOOKING BACK
Early 1998 – ‘Let’s do a website’
I’d had a quick look at the Internet in 1996 and decided it wasn’t for me. I saw it as another avenue for junk. I had an email address to do business and keep in touch, and that was all I was interested in.
Yet two weeks before Random House Australia were due to send my third book, The Shape of Things to Come, to the printers, I awoke from a dream and announced that I wanted to have a website. I envisaged the site as a place where readers could discuss the new ideas and research results I’d published in my book. And I envisaged it as a place where I could report on the outcomes of some of the predictions I had made under hypnosis and discussed in my book.
Random House agreed to publish the website address on the book cover, so I had two weeks to get one. Back in those days, it took ages to secure a domain name, so I was delighted to get www.janeanderson.com.au in time to go to press. Then reality hit: how on earth was I going to get a website up and going by the time the book hit the book stores? I had no idea about how to build one, or how they worked. Remember, this was back in 1998.
30 April 1998
Extraordinary circumstances led to the night of 30 April, when I ‘flicked the switch’ and my five page website went live. Help had appeared at every turn and all I had to do was write the content and flick the switch (press ‘enter’ ceremoniously at the appointed minute). I remember saying to the man who designed the site, “How do I get my site to the top of Yahoo?” He looked at me as if to say, “That can’t be done”. But within weeks, there we were. More to his surprise than mine!
Oh yes, and although my original intention was to create a site to discuss The Shape of Things to Come, the universe had other plans, and my fingers tapped out a site about my primary passion, dream interpretation, more in line with my first two books.
I’m going to pause here to go further back – and forward – to look at some predictions I made in The Shape of Things to Come:
Further back in time – or is that forward? Predictions …
29 April 2009
Listening to the news about the spread of swine flu, a nagging voice in the back of my mind drove me to look up The Shape of Things to Come for something I had predicted under hypnosis. (The book was about precognitive dreaming, and focussed on six experiments where I was hypnotised into my future to test various theories about the nature of the future.)
In Chapter 4 I reported the results of all the hypnosis experiments. (You can now read this freely online.)
On 12 September 1996, under hypnosis, I referenced ‘an infection carried by wild pigs’ about 16 years into the future. So, not exactly swine flu, and not the right year, but what this did was make me re-read the chapter.
On 5 Dec 1996, under hypnosis, I gave a date, ten years into the future, and a rambling description involving death, birth, a church, a coming together. Yesterday I realised that my father died in 2006 and I remarried in 2006. The two events were very close as my father died unexpectedly on the day Michael had planned to propose – and still did.
And I also saw, in that chapter, a reference to May 1998, predicted on 12 September 1996, about “new communications technology being discussed and trialled” and about feeling “reticent about the technology”, which resonated with how I felt about launching my website on, officially, 1 May 1998.
July 1999
The website, affectionately known as the ‘purple road website’ due to the image of an avenue lined with ethereal purple trees on the home page, broke. The forums were inundated after The Shape of Things to Come was published and a year later they broke under the strain. The breakage might have had something to do with the fact that I had learned some basic web design by now and had started to add pages. I don’t think my skills were too good. I think I had built a house of cards … :)
October 1999
One precognitive dream and another amazing set of circumstances later I was gifted a whole new website, as well as a new domain name: www.dream.net.au. I began to fully understand that there was a wonderful energy driving the website and the dream work, and I took the cue and ran with it.
1999 - 2009
I learned html and built and built and built (and edited, and demolished, and rebuilt, and extended) the site to the many hundreds of pages it is today.
