Manuscript appraisal - reviewing your manuscript
You've completed the hard work of creating your manuscript and now you're ready for professional feedback before going to press or submitting to a literary agent or publisher.
In appraising your manuscript I offer my suggestions on readiness for publication, appraise your manuscript's strengths, and highlight areas with potential for further development. I also draw your attention to any weaknesses and suggest how to correct these.
Whether you are looking for an agent to represent your work or a publisher to offer you a contract, your manuscript has one chance to make an impact. Getting your manuscript appraised so you can fine tune before presentation is a vital move.

Editing your draft - polishing words and layout
It's difficult for you, the author, to stand back and read your manuscript through fresh eyes. When I edit your manuscript, I tweak and polish your work for maximum clarity while checking and correcting spelling, grammar and layout.
I also look for those little things that can bug readers such as repetition, jargon, missing information or overuse of certain words and phrases, and suggest alternatives for getting your message across.

In non-fiction greater impact may be achieved by making subtle changes to the layout or structure of your book, by changing style, by adding anecdotes, by introducing techniques that get your readers more involved, by reconsidering your introductory chapter and .... much more!

Helping you structure your book before you begin
You're an expert in your field. You have the knowledge and the wisdom. You have a message to get across. You have much to teach and you can see many different ways to approach your subject but, which is best?
I help you to stand back and look at your subject through your readers' eyes. I help you to structure your book to suit their needs.
When a potential reader picks up your book and flicks through it (or checks out sample pages on your website), it is the structure that can make or break your sale. During those few minutes your reader needs to see how easy your book is to use and how it can help her. She will look up a couple of references in your index, check out your contents page and scan bullet lists, breakout boxes and page layout. What will she decide?
The more complex your subject, the more attention you need to place on getting the structure right. I help you achieve this.

Mentoring/ coaching you from start to finish
Face-to-face or by phone, I mentor and coach you through the whole process of writing your non-fiction book. Regular sessions work best, keeping you motivated and disciplined.
I help you through the tough times, keep your creativity flowing, set you short and long term goals and keep you motivated and inspired. I've been there many times as an author. I know what it's like. I also know how it feels to hold the first copy of your finished book and to get positive feedback from readers. Are you ready to begin?

Ghost writing your non-fiction book for you
If you have a non-fiction book in you but you are finding the writing extremely difficult, I sit with you to get your information into note form. I then work your notes into a book, collaborating closely with you at all times. My speciality is non-fiction, such as how-to and self-help, biography, family history and memoir. This is the most time consuming and expensive option.
